NBC’s George Lewis did a piece on the Nightly News last night on the issue of elderly drivers’ dreadful performance and had the courage to say he is over 60 and has limited vision because of an arthritic neck. Instructors then told him he should have supersized mirrors on his car. How many reporters would admit an age-related liability on air? How many would be so personally-transparent in reporting a subject where they could be cool and opaque and “objective”? Props to Lewis.
