Outrage Over Avigdor, From Americans for Peace Now

My last post said that Americans were too quiet about the ascension of Avigdor Lieberman. Lara Friedman, director of government relations for Americans for Peace Now, points out to me that APN has been vigorous in denouncing Lieberman’s expulsionist beliefs.

Americans for Peace Now – the sister organization of the Israeli Peace Now movement – is very concerned about this development. And in point of fact, we have been very outspoken on the issue – moreso than any other American Jewish group. Most notably, on Oct. 26 we issued a press release on the subject (which was covered in the Jewish press). On Oct. 31 the Jerusalem Post published an op-ed on the subject authored by our President and CEO, Debra DeLee, entitled “Where is the outrage over Leiberman”? Both the press release and op-ed are copied below.

In addition, last Friday we hosted Akiva Eldar for a standing room only public briefing in Washington (co-hosted by the Foundation for Middle East Peace and the Middle East Institute), and Monday we co-hosted an off-the-record briefing call featuring Ophir Pines-Paz, who courageously resigned in protest over Leiberman and his party joining the government.

Duly noted. Kudos to APN!

    peace NOW.
    forget about national security.
who cares that land for peace deals have never worked out in the past.
why worry that the world hates us and we are surrounded by an enemy bent on our destruction.
we want what we want, and like any other spoiled, self-centered child, we want it NOW!

Shockingly enough with all the events in the world today here is another bash Israel and the Jews column by little Philly Weiss. However let me put forth this question. Lieberman wants to redraw the borders to put has many Arabs outside Israel nad has many Jews in. Isn't this what Arabs in Israel want. To be out from under the Zionist/Nazi jackboot that practices genocide on them every day. To live under Hamas and Islamic Jihad. What exactly is the problem here. Nobody is moving them off the land its just a question of drawing boundries. Surely they don't want to be under the satanic Jews that are making their lives a horror that is the worst thing that anybody ever had to endure. Not even a black African in Darfur whose entire family has been killed by the janjaweed and is eating dust and drinking his own urine would trade places with an Arab who lives under the horror of life in Israel under a Jewish led goverment

So, Israel will not end up like Germany in the "last days of the Weimar Republic" (Uri Avnery).
I don't know this Lieberman well but I don't think he is a messianist. Hitler was kind of. The very term 'Thousand Year Reich' had a messianic ring.

It's nice to see that The Observer is still capable of Middle East journalism (Israel's Demographic Surgeon: The Lieberman Solution) and is isolating Weiss' "decoding" and "bizarre, disjointed, rambling, nonsensical" efforts.

    This "blog" is pointless…
