My guess is that they will, since fan memories are pretty short, and as you point out, this is America where we believe in most anyone's chance for redemption, especially after punishment has been dealt and accepted. Their alternative was to be eaten by predators or by other Africans, die a horrible death by exotic disease, or live a short live of miserable drudgery if not enslaved to another more powerful tribe (who most likely eventually sold them to Jewish-owned slavers anyway).

I would submit that at best the slate is clean, and a more careful accounting might find that European Americans are owed a debt due to the costs imposed by having Africans attempt to integrate into American society.
