Last night on ‘Hardball,’ Chris Matthews welcomed Va. Congressman Jim Moran on to talk about Iraq policy. Moran was in the headlines last week for blaming the war on an Israel lobby. The devilish Matthews was clearly pleased to be giving Moran a forum (though he said nada about the lobby).
The last time Moran mentioned the lobby, at the outset of the war, he stepped on the third rail of U.S. politics and was denounced as an antisemite and disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke. This time around, Moran’s comments were published by the admirable Michael Lerner in Tikkun, whose piece was of course keyed to Walt and Mearsheimer’s book. And lo, Moran has survived!
The point here is that the very thing the lobby feared has come to pass: Walt and Mearsheimer have changed America: they have created space for mainstream voices to criticize Israel’s role in our foreign policy. Look for Ron Paul and–fingers crossed–Obama to jump in next!

Whitbeck has some historical misconceptions. The State of Israel corresponds to the extremist organic nationalist political ideology that Eastern European Ashkenazim envisioned four decades before the Holocaust.
Determining whether the WW2 mass murders made Israel somewhat worse than it would have been without the Holocaust is difficult.
Soviet ethnic Ashkenazim were more than willing to plan and take part in mass murder, ethnic cleansing, and genocide well before Hitler took power.
Israeli Jews and Ashkenazi Americans have to face the legacy of ethnic Ashkenazi bigotry, fanaticism, racism and genocidalism.
It is called atonement. It is something that is supposed to take place on Yom Kippur even if it has been a long time since I attended a Yom Kippur service where any actual atoning really took place.
Ron Paul has already stuck his toe in the water as far as Israel is concerned and that's the BIG reason the MSM continues to marginalize him.
As far as Obama(Rezko's candidate) is concerned, he claims the Israeli loyalist Dennis Ross as his Mideast advisor. link to jta.org
That's probably the next best thing to having to having Ariel Sharon as his Mideast advisor. I wouldn't be looking for Obama to come clean about Israel in my lifetime.
Moran once got in a fistfight with disgraced senator Randy Duke Cunninfham. It was literally a fistfight because the first blow their fists collided, breaking Cunnighams hand and reducing him to tears.
Don't forget to read the whole Moran interview at the bottom of Lerner's book review. He's a brave man.
Obama's not going to jump in. Like Hillary and Giuliani, he's been completely captured by the Israel Lobby.
Obama is nothing but a big disappointment. He's the flip side of Hillary Clinton. He's a mouse when it comes to roaring, and he'll always remain a mouse in public when it comes to the Zionism Problem.
