The boast by settlement czar and diamond dealer Lev Leviev that he gave money to Oxfam, which Oxfam says is not true–
"To the best of our knowledge Mr. Leviev has not been a donor to Oxfam or any of its affiliates"–
has happily now hit the pages of Ma’ariv, shaming Leviev in Israel. He has issued the following defense:
Having fled the yoke of communism as a teenager living in Uzbekistan,
Lev Leviev knows oppression firsthand and has used his self-made
success to alleviate suffering around the world.
OK, but Leviev now subjects the Palestinians of the West Bank to the yoke of Zionism, by funding settlements. And Susan Sarandon blithely shops at his Madison boite. When oh when will the American press take on the settlements, which have disgraced America’s image around the world, in anything like the way the Israeli press does?
