It’s Over. Or, Why the Baby Boomers Are Deserting Hillary for Obama

I gather that the flood is already beginning, from Hillary’s side to Obama’s in New Hampshire.  Something ought to be said about the fickleness of the babyboomers. We’re vain and we don’t really have a lot to show for ourselves, as a generation. Now we’re spending a lot of money on anti-aging cream and Viagra and Rolling Stone tickets. I.e., we’re death-deniers, and are stuck in our glorious adolescence, the 70s. Eros, not thanatos.

Yesterday Russert pointed out that Obama is drawing huge from people under 50 and Hillary from people over 50. When boomers hear that, it’s over. They don’t want the political equivalent of an AARP card. They will go where the young people are going. It’s over.

No question, the Bush-Cheney-Clinton generation will go down as the worst in American history. Un -coincidentally, it is also the most statist-liberal in American history as well, Bush being merely an exporter of the statist-liberalism that Neocon-types have been preaching in America for years. I hope Obama learns from the Bush-Clinton fiasco that state-enforced liberalism is not only irresponsible and ineffective, but is dangerous and murderous as well.

  2. Charles Keating says:

Interesting; Obama is ranked pretty low on Rosner's totem pole covering who will spend the most blood and taxpayor's dollars to rubber stamp Likud policy. Guess Obama's to be trusted the least since deep down, his ethnic makeup might make him refeel
his sympatny for the Palestinians if he gets in office.

  3. Oarwell says:

Look at the number of Myspace, Facebook, Youtube links for Ron Paul. Young people want freedom, not empty rhetoric. Ask yourself what it is you want when you say you want 'change.' More of the same corporatist-militarist machinations, or a fresh return to foundational principles of human dignity and individual liberty?

Buy the book for the contents, not the cover.

Great job putting thoughts in their heads, CK! Here's something that makes a bit more sense: One of Obama's top advisors is Zbigniew Brzezinski.

But I guess none of us will know what the rankings are really based on, because then they would have to be perceived as honest, straightforward appraisals. And that's not possible, right?
