Attacking Obama in this way would be baseless and stupid. Obama has been in the Senate for four years. During this time he has supported the alliance between the US and Israel.

i'm not meaning to crash ya party or anything, but i find da idea of more even-handedness in american reporting about israel/palestine a cool thing.

one of those unbalanced things i've noticed is that each time israel commits some major atrocity, a new holocaust museum springs up here or there, like, in samoa or kuala lumpur or elsewhere. not that that is a bad thing in and of itself, but, i mean, where do they store all those lampshades made of jewish hides and soaps made of jewish fat (no offense intended, i dont mean to say that there are or were fat jews) – because, judging by the quantity of holocaust museums springing up everywhere these days, there must be an awful lot of that stuff somewhere, and, given israels attitude, they'll need quite a lot more of it to brush over what they're doing to the palestinians.

I think Phil is too obsessed, but you picked an odd post to come in with that critique. The Israeli/Palestinian issue is a very important one, and it's one that is virtually never discussed honestly in mainstream American politics, in part because of the Israel lobby. Phil is right on this point. That doesn't mean the Israel lobby is all-powerful or runs US foreign policy in general, or anything silly like that. It's merely a recognition that a very loud interest group can exert great influence on one particular (and important) issue.

And it's not like I even disagree with part of what Davis said. Phil does go too far sometimes–he is obsessed. But only a dishonest hack would take this to mean that one can't wish for more honesty in our politics about the I/P conflict. Which is where Davis comes in.
