Non-Arab Nakba Awareness Hits New High: the Associated Press!

The world is changing. The Associated Press has a wonderful story on the Nakba.

Israel’s joy over independence after two millennia of Jewish exile has been the Palestinians’ "naqba" — their catastrophe. The state they were to have in a partitioned Holy land was made stillborn by the 1948 war. The 1967 war that brought the West Bank and Gaza under Israeli rule doubled the catastrophe.

Leila Abu-Saba, who informed me, writes: "I neverthought I would see this story in an AP newswire.I wish my [Lebanese-American Christian] father hadlived to see it..."

Yes, and some day President Obama will talk about the Nakba...

  1. tell her to look up the expression "crocodile tears."

  2. Charles Keating says:

Even crocodile tears have a use perhaps not imagined by the crocodile. Without any tears, you are left with the dry eyes, Hillary and John. No room for hope there at all.

The first time I heard the term 'Nakba,' it was in a context similar to the one asserted by Hillary Clinton:

'In 1999, Hillary first spoke out against the textbooks used in Palestinian schools, which reject Israel’s right to exist and describe Israel’s founding as "a catastrophe that is unprecedented in history." '

Hillary wants us to believe that in the minds of fanatical Palestinians, the Nakba represents an ideological rejection of Israel's founding.

This of course is a Big Lie. Just as the Holocaust is a story of Jewish suffering — not an ideological commentary on German politics — the Nakba is the story of Palestinian suffering.

Hillary is guilty of Nakba denial. J'accuse!

  4. Charles Keating says:

Yes, and McCain is guilty of willed ignorance.

  5. Thanks for the link, Phil, I appreciate it.

My father isn't around to speak for himself, but I'll bet he would have preferred that I describe him as an Arab nationalist Lebanese-American Christian. Makes it more clear where his sympathies lay, and makes it clear he's not a neo-conservative-admiring Lebanese right-wing Christian, of whom there are far too many, especially in the blogosphere.

  6. Charles Keating says:

Interesting as to just who is the AP?

What MK Uri Ariel regrets is that the Nakba wasn't a Final Solution:

    ————

MK Uri Ariel on Sunday called on the government to encourage Israeli Arabs to "willingly emigrate" from Israel and from large cities within it, so as to solve the problematic situation of the country's minorities.

The National Union MK made a speech during a first-of-its-kind conference dealing with the issue of Israel's minorities as well as with "the creeping Arab occupation", and said "the issue of Arabs living within the State of Israel should be addressed."

Ariel, who serves as faction chair, welcomed the conference's initiative and said it marked "the beginning of a process in which participants acknowledge the problem, before possible solutions are implemented."

Ariel added that "positive signs can already be seen in the presence of core Jewish groups that stabilize the situation in cities and help prevent the drain of the Jewish community."

Unbelievable. It was acceptable to talk this way in the 19th century U.S., when one could cheerfully discuss Nordic racial superiority and advocate deporting blacks back to Africa (Liberia, for instance).

In the wake of the Holocaust, advocacy of eugenics is no longer an acceptable topic for public airing — except in Israel, where Zionism's obsession with engineering a racially-pure state produces throwbacks like Ariel.

Can you imagine someone today, saying "the issue of Negroes living within the United States should be addressed"? Even David Duke wouldn't put it so brutally.

In no other country in the world does one such encounter such crudely ethnic rants from a parliament member. If anyone, anywhere, advocated "willing emigration" of Jews out of their country, there would be a firestorm of criticism.

Israel is the last place on earth which still gets a "Holocaust free pass" to advocate deportation of its second-class citizens. Visit now, because the retrograde spectacle of Arab Sambos getting horsewhipped on Uncle Ehud's Kosher Jim Crow plantation, while Uncle Sam foots the bills, won't last much longer.

Haygood, a little obsessed with the antibellum south aren't we. Is there perhaps a nigra in the woodpile

  9. Jim Haygood says:

When you can't argue facts, go ad hominem.

    NEXT!

  10. the Sword of Gideon says:

I'm wounded by your slashing rhetorical wit Haygood. You do have an obsession with the old south though and black ass. Did you have an ancestor that got drilled through the head at Gettysburg by any chance?
