Does such memory and history prevent Jews from responsibly building a nation-state?

If I were to argue (which I wouldn't) that Jews should quit talking about the Holocaust or the pogroms of Russia and Poland because it's preventing them from building a responsible state today, wouldn't Foxman call me an anti-Semite?

But I guess by bringing up the analogy I am going to be accused of trying to make the Holocaust equivalent to the Nakba, which is sacrilege, because what happened to Jews in Europe is unlike anything else that happened to anybody and cannot be used as a comparison.

We may say "never again" but we may not apply the lessons of Jewish experience in Europe to anybody else; never again means "never again to Jews", in this Foxman world.

I'm not at all that concerned if Jews create a responsible state or not, as long as it doesn't affect the United States. What concernes me is that the problems of Jews and Israel have been made my problems. I'd rather that the people fighting both sides of the argument in Palestine were doing it in Palestine, out of my sight and mind, and without my nation's dime or blood.

As far as the Holocaust goes, I could not care less about it at this point. I wish it hadn't happened, but it happened in other countries, to foreigners at the hands of other foreigners. I'm tired of paying for it and hearing about it!

I want to be an American in America, and the rest of the world can take their problems and go home.

Would I love to see the Israel-firsters punished severely and thrown out of the nation along with their supporters? Yes. I would also like to see the foreigners and foreign interests in this nation sent packing in general. And the political class that is obsessed with ruling the world at the expense of the traditional Americans should somehow have to pay for the crimes that they have committed both at home and abroad.

Of course none of this will happen peacefully at this point, and that is why I deeply resent the responsible parties, and all of the actors involved.

There is, it is true, an element of disgust in that anger.

I want to add that I believe some of the rage is about betrayal. I and others of the boomer generation were idealistic and non-exclusive. It was the Age of Aquarius remember? I and the people I knew embraced Jews and yiddishisms, Barbara Steisand was the new standard of beauty. It was a beautiful soup of diversity and all were welcome. Then 35 years later we find out that Jews didn't really believe that universalist stuff at all, it was their tribe that mattered, not humanity. Somehow that had been hidden from the rest of us. Universal values were a joke on the stupid gentiles (goyishe cop) .

All in all I believe people are semitophilic if anything. The jokes, the yiddishisms, the shtick, have been found to be charming. Isn't that the source of the rage of betrayal? Unrequited love? Jewish culture was embraced. Don't we all love the picture of Einstein with his hair sticking out? The Jewish sage.

And I want Phil and other Jews who feel threatened to understand. I want them to get it. It's not a threat but a warning, even a plea. Join humanity before we really really hate you. Drop those barriers and be one of us humans. All the desperate measure to survive as a tribe are making people resist you. That's what the anger means

BTW, Phil still seems to be concerned only with his tribe. To claim to understand what his tribe has done to the rest of us, and then call mild criticisms of those actions on a blog ugly and threatening is ignoring what he claims his tribe has done.

At this point Phil just seems to be trying broker the best deal for his tribe after the fact. I understand that, but don't give me this universal, multicultural and postracial bullshit at the same time.
