Since then, only moral reasons to protect a democracy that employs a peaceful transfer of power resulting from election, as norm, in contrast to Lebanon, Palestine, Iran.

America's interest.

Even if you regard keeping in the good graces of Saudi Arabia as in America's interest, Israel is probably a better friend to Saudi Arabia than Iran is.
