"realists like Walt and Mearsheimer and Lawrence Wilkerson"

An ODD description, Phil.

"The whole point of Zionism is that Jews are unsafe in western lands."

"Whole reason"?

I think he should fume about the accusation of "dual loyalty".

My criticism of the neo-conservative movement would be of overly zealous and xenophobic American imperialism. Where conservative definitions of American "patriotism" conflict with more ecological and spiritual humanism.

So, Witty, do you think Feith's role in initiating the war on Iraq conflicted in any way with spiritual humanism?

Bush initiated the war on Iraq.

I don't know Feith's writings or performance at all. I couldn't judge if, or to what extent he adopts a humanism or not.

I do know that radical changes in policy or administrations usually result in disruption of balances of power, so things like CIA orchestrated coups (Iran, 1951), or Islamicist orchestrated revolutions (Iran, 1979), or world war.

Definitely, a radical change in policy towards Israel would be as or more disruptive to the region than the status quo.

Is it in the US interest for their to be civil war in Palestine/Israel? Or for there to be civil war in Iraq, without any police force powerful enough to control it to the extent that oil supply still flows (short of invasion by Iran say?).

Hard to know.

The gross error of the invasion of Iraq is now long past. Definitely there is resentment towards the US for doing it at all (Obama), but also towards the US for doing it so carelessly (McCain).

Mr. Witty,

Your latest response borders on delusional; it certainly doesn't flatter an intelligence.

Read this to get you up to speed on the immediate past history you choose to ignore.

Holocaust empathy and support of Israel
_______________________________________

These are two different issues.
______

Before the Iraq war there was an interview in the main German Sunday paper (Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung) with Ruth Wedgewood, a member of the Pentagon's policy board, headed by Richard Perle at the time.

The interviewer asked Ruth Wedgewood: "What would you say to convince me to say 'yes' to the war against Iraq?"

Wedgewood replied: "I could be impolite and remind you of your history. Iraq is a threat to Israel. This is simply so."

Is there a moral imperative that translates empathy with the victims and survivors of the Holocaust into support for immoral and politically unsound Israeli policies?

Will the same thing happen again, Richard Witty? With a little help from Israel?

Douglas Feith: Office of Special Plans:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Feith#Office_of_Special_Plans

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/11/19/hersh-iran-agent/

Hersh: Bush, Cheney Stovepiping Intelligence On Iran, Hiding Information From CIA»

On CNN, New Yorker journalist Seymour Hersh reported that a new CIA assessment concludes that “there’s no evidence Iran is doing anything that puts them close to a bomb.” Despite the intelligence agency’s conclusion, Hersh reports that the White House is still aggressively moving ahead with preparations for a military conflict with Iran.

As part of the White House’s preparations for Iran, Hersh says President Bush and Vice President Cheney are “stovepiping” intelligence and keeping information provided by the Israelis hidden from the CIA.

The Israelis are telling the White House, according to Hersh’s new article “The Next Act,” that they have a reliable agent inside Iran who reports that the nation is working on a trigger for a bomb. “Of course the people in the CIA want to know who [the agent] is, obviously,” Hersh said. “They certainly want to know what other evidence he has of actual making of a warhead. This is the internecine fight that’s going on — the same fight, by the way, that we had before Iraq.” Watch it:

Phil you are to be commended for tackling the hard job of uncovering these agents of influence working for israel while pretending to be as wholesome as apple pie....give me a frigin break...the american jewish community ought to repudiate these maggots who hide behind the skirts of their status as jews and yell "fire" anti semitism anytime someone dares to question their intentions.

this all will play itself out while the u.s is undergoing wild economic dislocations.....the natives may get restless at some point, especially if the truth is ever allowed to come to light.

whats the truth you ask....its the thing neocons work hard to keep under lock and key.....which if uncovered will leave a very bad taste in the collective mouth of the citizenry.

sounds like feith worked very hard to keep much truth from making an appearance in his book...he did though try to endear himself to his readers by telling us about his familys experience during ww2.

try asking an american mom whose son was killed in iraq if she cares about his sad tale.....after she discovers that her son died for israels safety.
