Lovin’ McCain, Today Anyway

I changed parties after Clinton to vote for John McCain in spring '00, then he disappointed me and became a warmongering Bush clone, and today I'm reminded of why I loved the guy. He was daring, had a great sense of humor, is real and close to the ground, likes people. I already like Sarah Palin. She's tough, she's a real woman, she's close to the myth of what America is, or used to be. I'm not that myth, I'm a pencil-neck Jew who lives in the woods with a wife and a chainsaw, but I like parts of it, admire a lot of it, and this chick has it. She's strong, she's on the frontier, she pours out offspring, and she's goodlooking and sharp. (I can wait for the dark side to come out in the next few days.) Barack and Joe are going to whup these two, and I'm going to work for Barack in Pennsylvania, but today I'm loving McCain. I heard sadness in Andrea Mitchell's voice right now, the idea that McCain would name some populist hick we've never heard of. Yes!
