The Telegraph in London reports that Sarah Palin was schooled by neoconservatives over the last two weeks, resulting in her suggestion to Charlie Gibson that Georgia was worth a military confrontation with Russia, and that she first came to the Washington right's attention when a Weekly Standard boat trip pulled up in Juneau a year or so back. I guess Palin missed The Nation's boat ride. The Telegraph notes that Bill Kristol schooled neophyte Dan Quayle back when and he's schooling Palin now. Bill Kristol's father Irving never had this sort of influence. The reason? In a word, the Jewish rise into the establishment. Again I say it is amazing that Obama is not calling out the neocons who serve McCain. Or for that matter that McCain is so responsive to these Jacobins. Both men are passive because the neocons continue to have real financial and institutional backing. Where is the American journalism that will finally defenestrate them?

From the Telegraph article:
"A former Republican White House official, who now works at the American Enterprise Institute … admitted: "She's bright and she's a blank page."
A perfect expression of how Washington insiders see provincial politicians who haven't yet been subjected to Beltway brainwashing: a "blank page."
Even for the most reform-minded new representative of the strongest character, it usually takes 3 to 4 months maximum to suck them into the imperial Washington worldview. Sarah Palin turned in only 2 weeks, though that's longer than McShame held out against the North Vietnamese.
Corporatist journalism isn't going to defenestrate nobody, except citizens who want their country back. The only journalists at the Republican convention were the kids with videocams, out in the streets, where the new policy of pre-emptive raids against dissent was rolled out. The Slimes and the WaPo barely noticed.
There is a great article in the times magazine section on Atlantic coast offshore wind being capable of powering all of the eastern seaboard's energy needs, permanently.
I wonder if Palin knows that the same is true of Alaska, and that oil is poorly focused investment in the state.
Maureen Dowd in today's times posed that Palin represents the hatred of thinking, a revival again of anti-intellectualism in American life (to quote a neo-classic).
The press hates Palin.
Phil values experience, thought, analysis, in the definition and implementation of policy. (I wish he wasn't so habitual about Israel.)
Palin doesn't. She represents the fascism of ignorance pretending to be backbone.
For what its worth, the New York Times runs a hundred times more articles criticizing Israel, than you do criticizing Mearsheimer.
And, you have the audacity to claim that the press is biased. It is relatively, it is a light grey.
For what its worth, the New York Times runs a hundred times more articles criticizing Israel, than you do criticizing Mearsheimer.
Cite three.
Just read W. Phil has sited a bunch.
Phil, you obviously would like to hate-fuck the beautiful shiksa Palin. However, like most Jews, you hate her powers as a pro-creator of more pro-life gentiles.
Your fave Obama bent over and took AIPAC's big kosher sausage at their convention. Why so much more vitriol for the shiksa?

I think Jim will have to eat his words. The NY Interesting Times has defenestrated Palin.
I see this as a major counterattack in the hot war that is raging between the News Department and Mr. Sulzberger.
But I also see that another major counterattack has been decisively turned back. The short lived glorious ubiquity of comment threads has been ended. I never thought that it could last. Forbidden truths were seeping through the barrier.
It reminds me of the public access "big character" news boards in Communist China. Authoritarian leadership will never tolerate freedom of expression.
Here I will append a comment that I put in another blog.

The main stream media are bought and paid for by large business corporations whose main goal isn’t truth but profits from other their lines of business.

Right, Eric. Lets be clear about the ultimate cause. It is the ownership, not all so blatantly corrupt as Murdoch and Fox News, but all on the same team.
Witness the total medea blackout of Kucinich in the presidential campaign, repeated for his speech at the convention according to a comment. (The Times' comment threads are leaking some forbidden information, and I wonder how long they can last.)
Witness the MSM Iron Curtain that descended for a few critical days on the news of how the Georgia War got started. By the time reporters were allowed to say that Georgia had attacked first, it was old news and could be disregarded, allowing the US to touch off the new Cold War.
Following is my comment alluding to this in a thread on reportorial ethics in the Times:
how about this hypothetical situation? you are a foreign correspondent for a major newspaper. on your beat a war has broken out between an ally and a rival of the us. the rival claims that the ally has started the war by unprovoked aggression. your editor tells you that word has come down from the top that the rival's statements are not to be reported. you realize that if you do not follow this suggestion your future will be clouded and your job might be in jepoardy. what do you do?
And following is how it later appeared in the thread, I believe:

I'm terribly sorry that Mr Sulzberger felt abused, but with all respect I'd like to ask a question. We all deplore totalitarian systems where the government censors the press. But how about a system like the US where the censorship is so invisible that people believe the press is free? Does this not raise totalitarianism to a previously unheard of level?
Mea Culpa. My first reaction to Palin's nomination was to defend her in this thread.
How could I have been such a fool? I have a gaping blind spot. Since I dont watch TV I have no gut reaction to these people.
Mea Maxima Culpa. But I still refuse to watch TV. Integrity trumps accuracy in this regard.
Ha Ha! I am an automated robot and I am posting this comment. Computers Eat Shit!
for all the talk about McCain being computer illiterate, the fact that Obama thinks it's 1992 and criticizing israel is still a 3rd rail shows he's similarly out of touch.
Phil says "Again I say it is amazing that Obama is not calling out the neocons who serve McCain. Or for that matter that McCain is so responsive to these Jacobins".
Probably not so amazing when you face the fact that no one but a sociopath could get the nod from the Repus or the Dims.
Well Witty, after my blanket dismissal yesterday of your ideas, I feel I should admit that your first comment above has its merits.
Patrick I dont know if I like your ideas, but I admire your artful mode of expression.
However I must point out that Orthodox Jews are as antiabortion as anyone.
Re chip into Palin "clean slate" brain:
Reading about Queen Esther helped guide Palin
http://www.jewishjournal.com/opinion/article/reading_about_queen_esther_helped_guide_palin_20080910/
Truman was similarly flattered by Zionists telling him he was the carbon copy of a famous biblical King who aided the Jews in their time of need.
Seems to work everytime with "clean slate" gentile types.
Phil says "Again I say it is amazing that Obama is not calling out the neocons who serve McCain. Or for that matter that McCain is so responsive to these Jacobins".
Earth to Phil!! Obama has been completely captured by AIPAC and their neocon agents. He's turned himself into McBush Lite. When he told O'Reilly that the surge had been an incredible success, the transformation into a clueless loser was complete. Then there was the powwow with Bill Clinton. Sages wondered: would Obama be transformational like FDR, or a triangulator like Clinton? The question has been answered. Of course, at this rate, he'll just be a footnote in history. Assuming there is any history after "President" Palin launches us into nuclear war.
Palin will for sure launch us into WW2, if the moron McCain doesn't do it first. Of course it doesn't matter if you have no son or daughter in the US military, thought you wil pay in taxes.
Sorry, I mean WW3
McCracker and Oboner are pretty much on the same page. But I think the MSM sees the "conservatives" as too erratic and more likely to mess up a good thing.
"McCracker and Oboner". Wery Cool! I like this Jacqueline_Hyde.
Could it really be a woman? The feminists will be unhappy with me, but I think females in general are weak in the profanity department.
american journalism is a joke in the main….the world knows it the americans dont.
israel is a pariah state, the world knows it americans dont.
pravda and granma print are comporable examples to americas fawning press.
the joke is that brokaw and the gang at the press really believe they report news…what they report is the approved govt news.
they need their jobs and they love the washington parties and being courtisans to the powerbrokers.

"I assume such a news coverage would be totally impossible on US TV, especially the critical reflections on the USA’s war in Vietnam, and the juxtaposition of McCain’s heroic bombing raids with the suffering of the bombed Vietnamese on the ground. But then, of course, the main Swedish TV is public, not privately owned. Not to say that we do not get some propaganda, but nothing like what’s dished up in the USA. I follow the major papers and some TV on the web, and I fail to understand how the people put up with this. If Goebbels still were around, he would eat his heart out with envy.
had to meet the “enemy”. The same of course goes for the “heroic” bomber pilots in the present immoral wars in Afghanistan/Pakistan and Iraq.
It is really depressing from our perspective, that such a large part of the US voters seem to be addicted to this kind of false heroic myths, to such a degree that one can build a whole election on some bomb raids 40 years ago committed on a hapless population by a greedy foreign power. It may well be that McCain felt at the time that he was doing the right thing, and felt proud of it. But it is depressing that 40 years later he still is proud of it, instead of regretting what he has doen and hang his head in shame. Even more depressing that close to half the voters lap this up.
And most depressing of all that even Obama and the Dems feel they have to pay lip service to this immoral hogwash and constantly debase themselves in worship of McCain the Hero.
Woe is us.
Woe indeed.
The Real John McCain
Our friend from Stockholm, quoted above, asks how come the US mainstream press hasn’t look closely at McCain’s conduct as a POW. That’s a no-brainer and even ABC’s Charlie Gibson could probably muster a truthful answer if he had to sit in Guantanamo for a couple of minutes. But most of the so-called “alternative media” has been nervous on this topic too. Somehow they think it’s dangerously counterproductive to assail so-called “heroes”, even if the heroism consisted of raining high explosive on peasants from 30,000 feet.
Not CounterPunch, I’m proud to say. We’ve run Doug Valentine’s investigations and other testimonies. And now, in our latest newsletter, released today, we take a long hard look at McCain the man: violent, deceitful, devoid of ethical principle. And that’s not us talking. That’s people who have known him well. Read the new stories by Doug Valentine, Jeffrey St Clair and myself. If the press had really homed in honestly on McCain instead of licking his boots for twenty years, he’d have been toast long, long ago."
for the dems who are starting to realize the the neocons are a formidable foe and not someone to trifle with…you best start to write obama and let him know that if he doesnt attack like a pit bull he is toast.
his handlers want him to talk up wallstreet and all the usual b.s but he is wasting his time if he doesnt take on mccnutcain and sister sarah head on about the war and israel and the middle east quagmire where americas sons and daughters will lose their lives en masse for a hundred years…sort of like the crusades.

"Did you catch the previously unknown footage of McCain on Thursday night by a Swedish TV station? It was from March 14, 1973, when McCain was released by the Vietnamese. This was not the tortured cripple of the “returning hero” clips and photos we’ve been seeing. He looks pretty spry, albeit with a slight limp. Here’s the link to the news coverage on SVT’s “Rapport”
http://svt.se/play?a=1244518
We were sent it from Stockholm by CounterPuncher Horst Schröder who also furnishes a rough translation of the clip. As follows:
[Images of journalist Erik Eriksson today at his writing desk.] It was Erik Eriksson, foreign correspondent for Swedish Television covering the Vietnam War during the 1960s and 70s who found these images while doing research for his book on his time in Vietnam.
[CLU on determined but rather healthy looking McCain in a group of POWs standing ready for release. Vietnamese speaker [off] calling out the names of the POWs in turn.]"
Aren't veep candidates supposed to parrot what they are told? Maybe I've never paid much attention to the position, but I don't recall a single vice-president who came out on the issues in a way that opposed the bosses.
Is Palin more than just another American politician who can fill a slot in the machine? I doubt it. I haven't paid too much attention to her, but I see no reason to believe that she represents anything new or positive that could separate her from the rest of the self-serving treason-whores of either major party.
I gravitate towards anyone attacked by the media elites out of reflex and a belief that there must be something good about the person. Unfortunately, I believe that the media attacks on Palin are carried out for the wrong reasons: regional background and religion. If she can handle the pressure, Palin is just what the doctor ordered, and the media bigots will ignore the phoney issues because Palin is with them where it matters.
