the spirit of the republican convention is downright mean and fascist sounding.

oohhh those scary frightening terrorist...we need the govt to protect us from a few guys with razorblades.

but alas the nation is asleep at the wheel and the car is rapidly approaching a cliff.

"This is the weirdest convention I've seen in a while. It's about abortion, or McCain's Vietnam ordeal, or the media attacks on Palin. Or the reality show called Who Might Be Vice President. Anything but the issues."

I heard a lot of mention of the issues. Giuliani listed a dozen things on which Obama plans to raise taxes. Palin pointed out that the Democrats don't what to do any of the things that would help make us independent on foreign oil, such as drilling offshore or on the North Slope or building nuclear plants.

Besides the laundry list of what the candidate plans to do always comes in his acceptance speech, and we won't hear that till tomorrow.

yes i think it is coming clear. the old cosmopolitan had enough international ties to rise above the strictures of their national outlook. todays cosmopolitan has enough intercultual ties to rise above the strictures of the outlook of their culture, race, and class.

could obama be like that? i hope.
