First It Was ‘Snow-Machines’. Now Palin Seeks Competition for ‘Cow-Towing’

This is from Fox News's coverage of the Khalidi controversy. Or should I say Chalidi kontroversy. Fox can't spell kow-towing. The story says Palin gave a speech where she said the LA Times could win the Pulitzer Prize in the "cow-towing category" for not releasing the Khalidi/Obama tape. I hear CNN made the same mistake. Makes me feel old. My political idioms are getting old. Panjandrums, mucketymucks, nabobs, maumauing, poohbah.

Though I'm on curvaceous governor's side here. I want the information out. I want to see Obama palling with the Pals. And yes it's true, the media are all for Obama. I sure am. Look at Slate's poll: 55-1-1. (Obama-McCain-Barr). And Slate staffer Shmuel Rosner, who can't vote cuz he's a furriner, will surely live to wish he hadn't made this statement: "Being a foreign observer doesn't only mean that I can't cast a vote; it also means that my priorities are different. All I see is the Israeli interest from an Israeli standpoint." My emphasis; thanks, dude. Where's the French representative in our press? Or the Iraqi? I'm not a nativist. Let 100 flowers bloom. Or the Palestinian representative? Rashid Khalidi is an eminent scholar, and an American, to boot, and look how he's treated. God save us. Or Obama. Somebody, please hurry. I gotta go tow a cow.

P.S. Juan Cole: "McCain's and Palin's attacks on Khalidi are frankly racist. He is a
distinguished scholar, and the only objectionable thing about him from
a rightwing point of view is that he is a Palestinian.
There are about
9 million Palestinians in the world (a million or so are Israeli
citizens; 3.7 million are stateless and without rights under Israeli
control in the West Bank and Gaza; and 4 million are refugees or exiled
in the diaspora; there are about 200,000 Palestinian-Americans, and
several million Arab-Americans, many living in swing vote states
).
Khalidi was not, as the schlock rightwing press charges, a spokesman
for the Palestine Liberation Organization. He was an adviser at the
Madrid peace talks, but would that not have been, like, a good thing?" My emphasis.
