Israel Denies Heart Surgery to 6 Palestinian Children, Aged 5 Months to 6 Years

Amnesty International has issued an urgent call to action re 6 Palestinian children with heart defects who were supposed to be operated on this week in East Jerusalem, but Israel has not let them out.

Sami Atwa Abu Ishaq (m), aged 5 months

Ahmed Nahid Mohsin (m), aged 1.5 years

Soheb Wael Alqasas (m), aged 5 years

Hamza Hassan Abu Habel (m), aged 1.2 years

Ahmed Talat Abu Omar (m), aged 6 years

Mohammed Ashraf Abu Ajwah (m), aged 1.2 years

The
children named above suffer from serious heart conditions including
congenital heart defects commonly known as holes in the heart. All the
children need urgent surgery that cannot be provided in
Gaza,
which lacks both the necessary medical facilities and specialists. The
children were due to be operated on by a team of British heart
specialists at
Makassad Hospital in East Jerusalem
during the week beginning 4 October 2008. They were not able to leave
the Gaza Strip because the Israeli authorities refused permissions to
their mothers/grandmothers to leave
Gaza to accompany them. Soheb Wael Alqasas has already missed six appointments for his surgery
in recent months because his mother and grandmother were repeatedly refused permits to accompany him to the hospital in
Jerusalem.

A team of Italian heart specialists will be conducting a week of paediatric cardiac surgery at the Makassad Hospital from 6 November. It is imperative that the six children are able to attend the Makassad Hospital in time

Let my people go! They’re my people too, people.

Oh, the Israelis are so mean. But it doesn't make any difference since this story will not make it into the American press and that is the only press that matters, to Israel anyway.

  2. Jim Haygood says:

I feel sorry for the kids, and you sure as heck know that I think Zionists SUCK, but why is this Israel's problem any more than it is Switzerland's?
There are thirty two Muslim countries they can go to for the surgery. They can leave Gaza via Egypt.

  3. Rupa Shah says:

@ Jim Haygood : I would like to point out to you that Israeli govt not only does not allow the Palestinian patients to enter Israel for treatment, they do not allow very ill patients in gaza to go to Egypt either.

You will find any number of articles if you google for them that many Palestinians in Gaza have died because they were not allowed to go to Egypt for medical treatment for chronic illnesses.

if that was Jim Haygood, I'm Richard Witty (who will avoid this thread like it was kryponite) My guess is Bill the SOG.

Whoever it is, the answer to the question – 'why is this Israel's problem any more than it is Switzerland's?' is 'They were not able to leave the Gaza Strip because the Israeli authorities refused permissions to their mothers/grandmothers to leave Gaza to accompany them. '

That's the sort of truth so inconvenient to Zionists they bury it, so that no-one else can see it either. I wonder, if and when conditions change enough to allow the MSM to break it's self-imposed embargo on Middle East reality, whether Zionists will pretend, like Germans who lived thru the 30s later pretended, that they had no idea what was going on in their name.

'You will find any number of articles if you google for them that many Palestinians in Gaza have died because they were not allowed to go to Egypt for medical treatment for chronic illnesses.'

Knowing they can't bomb them into history in 2008, Israel is taking the slower route to genocide.

And our governments stand four square behind it.

  5. the Sword of Gideon says:

The Rafah crossing is in the hands of the Egyptians, Israel is not in charge of that crossing. If their Arab "brothers" would allow them to go to Cairo, they could do it. Secondly, why should Israel spend resources on people who hate Jews. Lastly, maybe the Gazans could I don't know, smuggle in some medical equipment along with weapons. Or maybe Iran doesn't do antibiotics. Just rockets.

  6. Rupa Shah says:

@the Sword of Gideon: For your information, Rafah has been under Israeli control, totally, since June 2007 ( except when the wall was demolished in January 2008 and Gazans were free to go to Egypt to buy the essentials for their day to day survival for a few days). By International law, occupying power is responsible for ALL the needs of the occupied population and that includes education, healthcare etc and Israel is breaking the law by not providing any services. International community of donor nations is doing it. It would be so easy for Israel not to have to worry about spending its resources on Palestinians if they ended the occupation today, removed the settlements and gave the Palestinians their land back! Then the Palestinians would not have to worry about smuggling medicines either!

  7. Eva Smagacz says:

Mothers and Grandmothers refused to sign up to become the Israeli infiltrators in their communities for Shabak. This is the only way out from Gaza for medical treatment.

Please note that Israeli doctors are not sullying their hands with providing surgery for those kids, foreign doctors do.

I am pleased that Amnesty International took up this story.

Richard Witty is frantically working the phones to get this situation sorted. He is contacting all his zionist friends, and the humanity and compassion of the Jewish community is being activated as we write, the phone calls are being made to Israel, and the permits for those desperately sick children are now a matter of hours.

    (sarcasm alert)

  8. the Sword of Gideon says:

Why should Israel provide anything to a hostile power. Which Hamas is. Even you have to admit that one Rupa. And the Rafah crossing is in the hands of the Egyptians.. Not Israel. Which makes you a liar.

Eva. how much did your family make out with at jedwebne. or whatever village they lived in turning in their Jewish neighbors to the krauts.

  9. bonMOT says:

SOG, how many innocent Poles did you kill as a "Red" back in the day? Easier than poisoning wells, eh?

  10. Rupa Shah says:

@ SOG:You can disagree without being disagreeable and calling names, e.g. 'LIAR'.
An agreemant was signed bet PA, Isarel and EU representatives to monitor Rafah
    crossing in Nov 2005.
    link to state.gov
    />
EU reps left after June 2007. So technically, Egypt and Israel control the crossing but Israel has veto over if and when the crossing will be opened so it does control the crossing. If that was not the case, Gaza would not be an open prison.
If you are going to respond to this, I hope we can discuss it without calling names. If I am wrong, please give me a reference. Thanks.
