Memo to RNC: Obama Was Once Photographed with the Great Edward Said

Jack Ross on the Khalidi flap:

The reason this is happening now is because McCain is playing his last desperate card, the Israel card, because he wisely decided not to incite a race riot by making it
Rev. Wright.  The gap in his logic is that at best it will get him
Jewish votes in Florida,
its too late for him to get Jewish money.  The media will keep it down
because they want Obama to win.  And frankly, I don't think it makes
much difference how much of the Jewish vote Obama gets (and I think it
will be pretty low, Bush did get 35-40% of both the Jewish and Hispanic
votes, and the only reason McCain may not do as well is Sarah Palin).  Facts on the ground are everything, Jewish vote or no Jewish vote, Israel Lobby or no Israel Lobby, the empire is finished, we need a deal with Iran to dismantle it with honor, and the financial crisis will put an end sooner or later to America's direct complicity in the occupation.

And here is Jeff Blankfort's take:

I was expecting a Palestinian-Obama link this week but I thought it would be with Edward Said and the photo of the Obamas and the Saids at dinner with some quotes by the late Edward which Obama would then denounce. But I think that McCain making a link between Khalidi and the neo-Nazis has produced a Willie Horton number but with less success.
