Triangulation: Leading Islamic Group Links Jeffrey Goldberg

Here's the triangulation I've been talking about. Today Jeffrey Goldberg has a piece attacking the Aish HaTorah sponsored "Obsession" DVD, which the Clarion Fund is distributing to swing states, as a hate video. And the Council on American-Islamic Relations is linking Goldberg's post! THE JEWISH EXTREMISTS BEHIND "OBSESSION." Recall that a year back Walt and Mearsheimer went to CAIR and Some Jews attacked them for doing so (Dana Milbank basically called them Nazis in the Washington Post). Well hey it's a crowded bed. And ever since Goldberg cast off from the Sheldon Adelsons and Leon Wieseltiers of the world last spring, he's fighting for a pillow. The Obama effect, already upon us…

For some reason (recent publicity?) the Aish HaTorah Jerusalem Fund site is currently down. But it was big among the Hollywood crowd. Stephen Spielberg wrote there, "Thank you Aish HaTorah for the good work you do and the message you put out. I could have used you in my life about 25 years ago."

In 2001 Aish set up two pro-Israel lobbying groups. Hasbara Fellowships, launched jointly with Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, trains university students to be 'effective pro-Israel activists on their campuses', and supplies them with speakers and resources. Honest Reporting serves as another CAMERA-like media pressure group.

It has an executive learning program which sends rabbis to the homes and offices of executives. Rober Iger (Eisner's replacement at the head of Disney) is a supporter.

  2. Unfortunately, Goldberg is misleading about the nature of Aish haTorah as a returnee organization embedded both in the heart of the Jewish community and in the centers of Jewish wealth. I have produced a number of relevant articles listed in this blog entry, and Richard Silverstein has some important new info on his Tikun Olam website.

Aish haTorah is very closely to some of the major malefactors in the subprime meltdown.

  3. Richard Witty says:

"The tragedy of "Obsession" is not that it is wrong; the tragedy is that it takes a serious issue, and a serious threat — that of Islamism — and makes it into a cartoon."

From the article tikkun olam referred.

I haven't seen the movie. But, I agree that the actions of fanatics and regimes of fanatics is substantive, and needs to be taken seriously, not cartooned.

Why is the always rational Witty cartooning Islamism? He spends 90%
of his time posting here accusing others of cartooning Zionism.

ooops, that felt a little borderline. But maybe the historical slaughter practice propaganda over here is too deeply burned into my mind:

Torossian last made the news when he employed sock-puppetry in defense of one of his many indefensible clients, Agriprocessors, Inc., the Luvavitch-owned kosher slaughterhouse that treats its employees nearly as badly as it treats its animals, which is saying something, because Agriprocessor slaughterers have been filmed ripping out the tracheas of living cattle.

But yes, Phil, this is an amazingly sane article. More, please.

  6. CHA says:

NPR, in their reporting on the DVD, could find nothing to say about the Clarion Fund other than that it is "a charity".

Thataway to speak truth to power, guys. (Give us our public funding back. We'll do it ourselves.)

Richard, the problem is not the cartooning element, that presumes that the over-credulous notice the difference between a cartoon (fiction) and reality.

The real problem is that they use the same propaganda the Nazis used, simply using a different target.

My favorite passage: One of my favorite hysterics, the Jerusalem Post's Caroline Glick, is featured prominently, pieces of the sky falling about her head as she rants about the End of Days. [I changed the link]

Please remember that Goebbels took his PR lessons from an American Jew, the same one who turned all America onto smoking via a NYC parade. Long and bare female shiksa limbs are always pivotal.

  9. LeaNder says:

anon, I guess the ladies had told you: So what? Had you told them: look it's all a PR campaign by Edward Bernays' to increase cigarette sales. They still would have loved to smoke just like men. You have to keep in mind the times.
