Anti-Zionist Group Is Launched for High Holidays

Will IJAN become a household word? Here's hoping. It's the newly-launched International Jewish Anti-Zionist network. Not a lot of names on the website, (here's Jason Kunin in Toronto) but some inspiring leftish statements about Palestinian human rights and Israeli apartheid. Wonder who's behind this deal. These Jews say they want to kick up the conversation at synagogues and dinner tables over the High Holidays, and "stickering of stores selling Israeli products."

Just goes to show: Anti-Zionism is the new Zionism. It draws on the same dreamy, idealistic, deliverance energy as Zionism. And the old Zionist consensus really is beginning to fragment at the edges. Roll over Ben-Gurion, tell Jabotinsky the news! Excerpts:

Cracks are appearing in the edifice of Zionism as in that of US world dominance itself…. Around the world, the movement in solidarity with the Palestine people and in confrontation with the U.S. and Israeli policy is gaining momentum…

We unequivocally support the Palestinian Right of Return.  We call for a dismantling of the racist Israeli law of return that privileges the rights of any person that the State of Israel deems as Jewish to settle in Palestine while excluding Palestinians and making them refugees…

We commit to support justice so that healing may take root. There is much to heal: the wounds inflicted by the imposition and operation of colonial rule in Palestine and the broader region; the traumas of the European oppression of Jews that the Zionist project is exploiting; the fears and deprivations suffered through years of bloodshed; the manipulations of culture and resources used to exploit Mizrahi Jews and divide them from Palestinians; and the continuing massacre, rape and dispossession of Palestinian people.

Thanks to Jack Ross.

It's happening. The Zionist stranglehold is starting to lose its grip – not so much from a power perspective (it still has unprecedented financial, cultural, and political power), but, perhaps more importantly, from a knowledge standpoint. People are starting to KNOW. A light is being shone on Zionism and its racist ideology. Zionism knew from its beginning that it would have to do much of its work from a point of invisibility, and indeed accomplish much of its goals through out and out lies. "By way of deception, thou shalt do war." Well, things are no longer invisible, and more and more people everyday are able to see through the Zionist bullshit and stand firm in their convictions – no longer stymied by ridiculous charges of "antisemitism."

What actual evidence do you guys have that the anti Zionist movement is gaining strength? The creation of new organizations isn't evidence that public perception/opinion is changing?

It surely is, as it shows that Phil and Jack aren't alone. There is demand for a more open discourse on the issues. I think what helps the movement are the politics of the last 8 years.

The deep irony in this is that the establishment holding the keys to how the issue can and should be discussed has seen this danger scenario rising on the left, as it has already been busy to establish an academic basis for their vision:

The scapegoat: the anti-Zionists, the left and "the Arab mind" or the terrorists.

Mind you, obviously there is a partial truth in the Arab danger scenario. But what was much more fascinating from my interested point of view was how eagerly the neocons propelled themselves into the scapegoat positions (at the peak-heat-"faster-please"-times) attracting all the attention as flattering courtiers at bush43's throne. That surely was quite a spectacle to behold.
