‘Israel Fears… Peace’

Yes, I've misrepresented a headline, but here's the actual one: "Israel fears Obama may make peace with Iran." Wait: Maybe in it's in our interest to end 30 years of saber-rattling with a regional power? And maybe, as Trita Parsi reminds us, the idea of Islamofascism has been promoted by Israel and its defenders so we don't see the absence of democracy for Palestinians under Israeli control?

    Well, the American people certainly as a whole do not see the
    absence of democracy regarding the occupied Palestinians. I only beat you with a club, so don't complain since they just shoot you.
    Nice? What's really amazing is the Palin Americans see nothing, except Paul Newman. Even now. I am ashamed to be AMERICAN.

    If that is accomplishable by diplomacy wonderful. Is it likely? Hard to know.

    You want to call that "fear" a neo-conservative sentiment go ahead.

    I feel the same way about it as I feel about any religious wing-nut attempting to revise observations, in favor of what is politically correct.

    There are plenty of this type all over the world. Why there and why now? There is nothing in America's interest that says it should be a high priority.

    And at what cost and how? Most likely if we do nothing it will lead to the desired result at the lowest cost, over time.

    Its the American way. — McCarthyism — The Cold War — Cuba — Sabre rattling is what got Bush elected. — There has to be a Bogeyman, or else people might see their own lack of freedom. — islamo bogeyman was a Neocon pick. Most of the world would trust the Iranian Mullahs more than the Neocons. How did Iran rise to be such a power? That is the lesson to be studied. Oil alone wasn't enough.

    I am not a denier of the Shoah. I don't care if the Jews were gassed, or simply died basically as slaves for the .Third Reich. I have a major problem with Israel's policies, both domestic and in terms of of foreign policy. As an American, I do not appreciate David Duke or AIPAC. David Duke has no power. AIPAC has too much.

    Yeah if you want to get all nuanced about it. I prefer "wiped off the map": something Americans can understand.

    And frankly, why shouldn't media corporations get to profit off use of our airwaves to broadcast their zio-truthiness, like the infamous Ahamdinejad misquote?

    Those airwaves were meant for advertisements and to the highest bidder they shall go. (And with them, the god-given right to externalize the political and spiritual and corporal costs of that charming neo-colonial worldview to the population-at-large.)

    Iran funds, trains, arms, pressures proxy armies to attack the civilians within a sovereign internationally authorized entity.

    Proxy armies that speak in terms of "Greater Lebanon", not all that different than some neo-religious wingnuts speak of "Greater Israel".

    And, intent on developing the means to construct nuclear weapons, that it could "rationally" consider using on a neighbor that it is unwilling to establish diplomatic relations with.

    At least the US and Soviet Union had diplomatic relations, and a USED means of communication with the intention to avert use of the nuclear weapons.

    The concept that "the land is Muslim", IS an expression of Islamic expansionism, with similar characteristics to what is attributed to the Israel lobby, that that effort is NOT overtly coordinated, but is widely shared and pursued by those that feel a duty to Islam.

    And, that most (hopefully) Muslims do NOT share that dream of Islamic expansion, but instead prefer civil cosmopolitanism, in which they have the freedom to adopt the righteous Muslim codes of ethical conduct, but not the political agenda to impose it.
