Here's Newsweek's piece on the rich holding back on ostentatious spending because it's not cool right now. Almost all the magazine's examples of rich guys would seem to be Jewish: Richard Fuld, somebody Koch, Ron Perelman, Steven Schwarzman, after whom the NY Public library is about to be renamed, he can't still be going thru with that plan– and Michael Hirtenstein.
I wonder when someone is going to do the Jewish story here. What fabulous wealth has done to Jewish values, what Jewish wealth has done to Democratic Party giving, and Republican Party giving, what this era says about Jewish entrepreneurialism and/or cronyism, and… voila, what it says about the Israel lobby. Guess I'll have to write about it myself.

I believe the world is quite interested in what Phil has to say. Or at least it would be if it weren't so difficult these days to speak truth to (economic) power. It may have to wait until the next paradigm shift, but eventually the media will start covering the dual-loyalty elephant in the living room and Phil will be seen as a prophet.
Maybe Wall Street should bail itself out since the rest of us have zilch or should we just ship our children to work as coolies in China–oh that's right, they can stay right here and work for slave wages for more casino capitalism and war mongering services.
Maybe since Jews have so much of the nation's wealth relative to their demographic number in the whole population they should

As a liberal, I support Affirmative-Action to help out the racially suppressed poor. The value of keeping Affirmative-Action programs is on the wane as blacks go mainstream and now
70% are Middle Class or better. There is a tough core of about 30% of blacks (Africa-Americans, whatever) that are trapped in a cycle of poverty and gangs and drug culture, etc. Blacks make up 13% of the USA's 305 million people, which is 39,650,00 and the number stuck in poverty is 1,189,000.
Jews compose 1.7% of America's 305 million, so that's 5,185,000, yet they are vastly over-represented in terms of the wealthy, political leaders, CEOs, owners of media companies, etc. etc.
If we can create government programs to help broaden the representation of the under-represented, is it not also in our interest to limit the representation of the over-represented? A dis-affirmative action campaign for jews? Just a thought.

What is the story of Jewish influence? From what I can tell, Jewish power became a visible issue in the years following WWII, and became more pronounced in the 1960s onward. Is that right? If so, how much credit should Jewish values get for the radical changes that have taken place in the nation in the last sixty years? The nation is socially, culturally and demographically very different than it was fifteen years ago. Is George Bush solely responsible for the polls that regularly state that 80% or more of the population believes that the nation is on the wrong track?
As it stands, the nation is nothing more than a social experiment that has been torn from its roots, and ruled by an elite that chooses losers and winners by cronyism and arbitrary preference. For the vast majority, their homeland is gradually becoming little more than a workcamp to be populated by endless waves of unassimilable immigrants who are willing to work for less than the previous group, or who will fight as mercenaries in exchange for citizenship.
Is that what we want? Is that what happens when an ethnic minority rules? Are the WASP elites more responsible for the changes? Have the native-born simply failed the elites, making themselves expendable, and change necessary? Are we facing whim or consequence? Who decides?

There's some comments on the url I just referenced that include
a layout of the Jewish socio-economic position in pre-and even during the NAZI regime up to a certain point around the time of the declaration of "World Jewry"'s economic boycott of Germany. The original essay there raises the question, Where is the English translation of Solzhenitsyn's book on Russians and Jews? Especially considering all the crap published world-wide.
The article itself is iformative, The comments often put it in the context of the present day.
One thing clear after reading it all is the "the White people" of the world should change positions as the Jewish people have done over the centuries. Nothing else gives reasonable assurance of continued survival in continuity.

About 2 years ago I was shocked to see a well know Think Tank Washington insider post a column on a well respected net blog widely read by the DC political community.
This particulary man is the ultimate "diplomatic" player in avoiding taking any extreme side on any issue so it was unusual.
I can't quote exactly because it has been some time but the gist of it was circling around the jewish influence in politics and hinting that "some gentiles" were starting to think about how this was affecting the US. One thing he mentioned was that some wealthy gentiles had gathered at some country clubs or clubs around the nation to discuss the fact that the nation's wealthy gentiles has abdicated their responsiblity to the country by not playing a stronger role in government. The gentiles money leaders speaking on this (and the diplomatic think tank fellow) were admonishing their fellow gentiles for thinking only of business and wealth and money and not taking leadership roles in the US government or involving themselves in politics. They talked about how gentiles concentrated on their children taking over their businesses or going into careers to soley make money and not into studies or careers involving US government or politics or world affairs.
It was really quite startling to see on this particular blog. I haven't seen this exact topic mentined since or if it was I missed it. When I have time I will see if I can find it in the archives..if it's still there.
I agree with your angst concerning this country and I tend to think it will get worse before it gets better.
I don't have a lot of confidence in Obama's team of rivals method for getting us out of our domestic and foreign hole. I think it is going to be a fractured, undermining mixture that is going to result in half steps and half measures and compromise and not any real reform of the basics.
Obama is already thinking of his second term and saying it will take more than one term to fix the US and Hillary as SOS is going to be thinking of 2012 while she runs the State Department and of defeating Obama in the next election and that means both of them will continue the pandering to special interest.
Therefore there will be no real 'reform" or change.
It is in the nature of politicans to think they can continue to chug along with the corrupt system they have created and just make a few "tweaks" to make the masses something is being done without really do anything lasting or concrete or changing the system that keeps them in power and in office.
Personally I don't think they can keep it all afloat this time.

Of course, Philip completely ignores the issue of Jewish philanthropy. The concept of "Tzedaka" calls upon Jews to donate 10 percent of their income to charity.
Perhaps that's why Business Week's 2006 list of "The 50 Most Generous Philanthropists" includes at least 15 Jews–which means that Jews, who are only about 2 percent of the American population, are 30 percent of America's most generous donors. More than 90 percent of Jewish households perform tzedaka.
Moreover, several surveys conducted by organizations including the Jewish Journal, found that only 6 percent of those charitable donations go to "Jewish causes and organizations." I think that Phil is referring to the top of the income distribution, e.g. the wealthiest 5% of Jews are wealthier than the corresponding 5% of gentiles. It may be that Jews that can afford to make large political contributions give far more per capita than gentiles who could afford it, but don't. I'm not saying it's true, however that is my interpretation of what he said. The average wealth of Jews and gentiles that can't afford to make large political donations is irrelevant to his argument, and that large numbers of poor Jews in NYC does not invalidate his assertion.

'The world' is increasingly interested in what Phil and like-minded folks have to say. The main reason for the 9-11 bombings and for the invasion of Iraq fundamentally involve blowback from foreign policies that the Jewish establishment has vigorously fostered. That's very true.
One of the best ways to confirm that is studying the both the Revolution and the Civil War. Not just for the dividing lines but for the parts various white groups played. The white Scots in the South for instance were fiercely independent types who didn't really fight the Yankees for the concept of "America" but only because their particular territory was encroached on. They were impossible to "organize" into the war effort but fought on their own terms. While the British Americans were divided between the King and new country, they nevertheless seperated themselves into the different camps and then organized the independence movement and fight.
There is an excellent book whose title I can't remember right now that deals with all the various gentile immigrants and all the 'groups' by former European nationality how they all responded differently according to background and their location in the new world but 'cooperated' in certain endevors.
Same thing in the Civil war where cousins and family squared off against each other.
It would be interesting to know why this is so in the white race.

Tell you something.
I had a very close jewish friend about 20 years older than me who I had known since childhood really. I say 'had' because he died 3 months ago from a long illness.
Here is what happened to him after 911 and all the Israeli wags and US zionist jumped onto the media stage. At first we, he and I and others, would discuss politics, events and what was happening re a possible Iraq war and so on. We might be having drinks and watching the news and some zionist rantser would be dennouncing Muslims and bringing Israel's security into the GWOT and so on.
After a while he started to get very uncomfortable with any discussion of the ME. Not that he didn't agree with them rest of us who saw very clearly what was happening, he did. But he became sort of 'fearful' of having an opinion as events went on. Now this was a man who had never been to Israel, never wanted to visit Israel, had no interest in Israel at all, had served in the US Army, thought of himself as an American. One evening at a dinner party the ME-Isr-Ira subject came up and he couldn't disappear fast enough from the table. I finally asked him what was going on and he said he felt "squemish" and "unsure' how others were regarding him now that so much was coming our about the jews/zionist and Israel and he was afraid people would think of him as being one of them ( the zionist war mongers) and at the same time afraid if he said too much he might incur the wrath of some of his jewish friends in the community.
THAT is the position the fanatic zionist have put some American jews in…none of us thought any less of this man we knew becuase we knew him. But because of the never ending holocuast and anti semitism Israeli fund raising industry and because he couldn't escape the fact he was a jew and at the same time didn't want to have to apologize for being a jew..he was put in the position of having this conflict, not conflict in his opinions of the Israeli doings, but conflicted about how we all might be secretly thinking of him as a jew with a capital 'J' now. I made it clear that no one I knew of had any change of heart towards him or opinion of him.
BUT…despite that, all these past 6 years and until the day he died he had this "hesitance', a sort of 'cringe" about him when the subject came up.
THIS is what the zionist did to him..they with their incessant propaganda made him feel this way, this is not what his gentile friends did to him.
Thanks for sharing a personal story. It makes the abstracted things we talk about real.
There is a lesson in that story from American for the wittys and sogs to learn. Tales about jewish suffering are by and by losing interest, let alone their impact. If you want to produce reading material fit to stir the non-tribal human heart you better start considering the impact of events on the many peoples involved, not on jews only. Without the ever present sympathy and perplexity from the "least ethnocentric group," the jew in American's story would clearly be taken as another jew who chose silence instead of acting against the perceived desires of his tribe.
