Here at last is a photograph of Lev Leviev, the Israeli diamond merchant who is funding West Bank settlements. Harvey Weinstein of Miramax is having a party on December 4 at Leviev's Madison Avenue boite. Weinstein apparently has an online group of friends called "A Small World." Presumably self-congratulatory and not Dubai-based. One day they will describe this gilded age in history books and kids won't believe it. Especially when they describe the corruption and hypocrisy, the star treatment for a man who is destroying the two-state solution, when supposedly it's our government's policy. Adalah-NY will be picketing the party, trying to crash it. Starting at 6:15 on Madison Avenue at 62d.

    Harvey Weinstein, prototypical Hollywood Jewish liberal. Funny how when the morality of these people is examined up close, they don’t seem quite so glamorous, or so “hip.” They seem more like lowlifes, very ugly people hiding behind layers of makeup, spin and schmooze. Garish, shallow, phony. They're humanitarians as long as the cameras are rolling, but in real life, the mask comes off to reveal a hideous nature.

    Ed, the code word to watch out for is "philanthropist". When used IN the Jewish press, OF a Jew, this MEANS, gives to Jewish causes.

    a 2004 piece in New York magazine, Weinstein appeared somewhat repentant for his often aggressive discussions with directors and producers.[3] However, an October 13, 2008 Newsweek story criticized Weinstein, who was accused of "hassling Sydney Pollack on his deathbed" about the release of the film The Reader. After Weinstein offered $1 million to charity if the accusation could be proven, journalist Nikki Finke published an August 22 email by Scott Rudin asserting that Weinstein "harassed" Anthony Minghella's widow and a bedridden Pollack until Pollack's family asked him to stop.[4][5]

    In April 2008, Weinstein, who supported Hillary Clinton's campaign for President, allegedly threatened to withhold some of his extensive personal contributions to congressional Democrats unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi embraced his plan to finance re-votes in Florida and Michigan. Three officials familiar with the conversation say that Weinstein appeared determined to buy Clinton more time in her battle against Sen. Barack Obama by pushing for the re-vote. He tried to convince Pelosi to back off her previous comments that superdelegates should support the candidate who's leading in pledged delegates in early June.[6]
