How neoconservatism destroyed American Jewish moral leadership, Chapter 532

The Union for Reform Judaism, fresh from its support for the Iraq war, is now cheering the Gaza slaughter as a proportional response to rocket fire from the blockaded territory, and celebrating the Bush administration for its support. Rabbi Eric Yoffie, URJ President:

We note, with sadness, the predictable chorus of those in the
international community who call for Israeli "restraint." Yet these
critics offer no solution to the suffering of Israel's citizens, and in
the face of rockets terrorizing their own children, would not be
talking of restraint and proportionality. They would be demanding that
their governments put an end to the attacks.

We thank the
Government of the United States, which has been a voice of reason. We
hope that the Palestinian leadership will demand an end to missile fire
and a return to the path of peace and the negotiations begun in Annapolis. And we pray that the Palestinian people will strengthen the hand of all who are prepared to make peace a reality.

P.S. Note that 2 years ago, Yoffie and the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism were involved in giving an award to Philadelphia, Mississippi, martyr Andrew Goodman's late mother Carolyn (a Meretz USA member) at the Israeli Embassy of all frakkin places, while Israel was busy suppressing non-violence in the West Bank, with Jesse Jackson there to put the icing on the charade. Here's the Great Gabriel Ash noting that Goodman died to end oppression of a minority and was then being consecrated by a state that considers 20 percent of its women a "demographic threat."

no doubt will have an unbiased discussion in mainstream media tonight: Wolf blitzer ‘moderating’ a discussion between Livni and Thomas Friedman, with analysis from Bill Kristol. That will help americans get to the bottom of it!

The entire world has condemned this, but Americans continue to be blinded. Then we wonder why people hate us.
Mr Hope and Change couldn't be bothered from his vacation to pass comment.

Well, its a great way to 'celebrate' Hannakah, I guess.
