Sharon taking a stroll on the Temple Mount starting the last intifada as Bush-league was entering office (and as Sharon squaring off vs Bibi in elections), now Barak bombing Gaza as Obama enters office (and Barak vs Tzipi and Bibi in upcoming elections). when will US presidents (and the US people) get their fill of jumping every time an Israeli politician tries to score points by killing people?

Deputy White House spokesman (Gordon Johndroe–he looks about age 19)) making public statement now on C-SPAN: Israel just wants southern Israel towns to live in peace, and USA wants to get back to road map; "We don't know what the specifics are on casualties…Secretary Rice working on a sustainable cease fire….Israel is going after terrorists firing rockets into Israel and first they need to stop it… HAMAS has a role, it can live up to its prior commitments; it instead is choosing to fire rockets, which won't lead to a sustainable cease fire. Discussions we've had with Israel: Any ground IDF operation would just be part of Israel trying to protect its people…take that one day at a time… We can't have violence to
stop, only to start up again (AUDIO CUT OFF DURING Q & A)–

(audio back on):US understands Israel must take actions to defend itself. Israel assures us they don't want to reoccupy Gaza. Does the timing refer to Israel elections impending? It's not for me to comment on pending Israeli elections, but it appears to me Israel is merely responding to HAMAS rocket attacks. Other than Rice phone call, USA taking any action? US has provided and will supply people of Gaza with humanitarian supplies. When did Bush know Israel had planned the OP? (Refers to 100s of HAMAS rockets hitting Israel. The people of Gaza could have it made but Hamas fires rockets. Prospect of peace deal in future? Same situation as when Bush took office–need cease fire that is durable and respected by Hamas–Annopolis–all today recognize two-state solution is best, and Bush laying ground work for it… How can you work toward peace without talking to Hamas? That's why we talk to others in the region, like Egypt…I can't get into mind of terrorists, why they would fire hundreds of rockets into Israel…57 mill UN & 12 mill (via Red Cross) given to Pals for humanitarian supplies for Gaza….Israel has given it all
to Gaza… Should Israel destroy Hamas to stop rockets? Nobody wants anyone destroyed although Hamas has stated it wants israel destroyed… I can't answer questions about Israel's intentions, though Hamas has declared its goals…thank you all very much.

UN Sec. General making speech on CSPAN about I-P Gaza at noon today…

Scorpio, you are dead right, the timing is everything in light of the impending Israeli elections and Obama about to take office–here's the legacy of the lame ducks in USA:

Statement by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the Situation in Gaza

    Secretary Condoleezza Rice
    Washington, DC
    December 27, 2008
The United States is deeply concerned about the escalating violence in Gaza. We strongly condemn the repeated rocket and mortar attacks against Israel and hold Hamas responsible for breaking the ceasefire and for the renewal of violence there. The ceasefire must be restored immediately and fully respected. The United States calls on all concerned to protect innocent lives and to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza.

That's the verbatim response I got from the US Government after mailing it an article on the slow erasure of the Palestinian people!

People say to contact the congress and executive branch, but they
never respond directly to one's questions and message content–they just repeat their boilerplate ideology, never addressing what
the information one has given them. This regular process, sure
tells the average concerned American that its government could care less about one's input. It's such a depressing charade enlightening only in it really shows the power of our plutocratic
    government and enabling Fourth Estate.

What a powerful personal statement. What does Phil say? Things change slowly at first, then they change fast?

David Gregory asked Tzipi Livni the pointed question yesterday, Can Israel achieve its objectives through this escalation? She deflected it with "of course, . . . " something or other, but the subtext was clearly, doesn't such aggression breed further hostility? Which of course she did not address.

I sense we near the Exhaustion of Spin. We grow tired of hearing it. The reporters grow tired of repeating it. The politicians grow tired of saying it. Truth has a way of wearing you down, when you keep trying to dance around it.

JM has a really hot statement for all aware Americans on his blog; here's an excerpt:

"Decent Americans should be particularly incensed at Zionist crimes in Gaza because we have paid for all the weaponry, greenlighted the Israeli attacks, and even approved — thanks to the manipulations of Jewish Neocon Zionist policy makers — of the Gaza blockade that led most directly to this situation.

This attack has potential dire consequences for the US economy because the USA has formally requested at least $300 billion (and informally suggested at $600 billion) in loans from Arab Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs).

In other words, because the US keeps Israel afloat and because money is by definition fungible, the USA is asking Arabs to support Israel as the Zionist state genocides the native Palestinian Arab population.

It is hard to see how the USA can legitimately expect much aid from Arab countries in fixing the US economy under such circumstances.

The request is even more laughable because the US economic disaster is wholly attributable to the US-Israeli alliance, which is responsible for more than half of the US national debt.

Non-Jewish and Jewish anti-Zionist Americans have to start asking Jewish Zionist Americans hard questions:
Why do you believe that Jews have the right to plunder and to kill non-Jews?
Why are supporting the continued existence of the murderous genocidal terrorist Zionist state when manipulating the US government into such a policy amounts to destroying US jobs and taking food from the mouths of American children in order to transfer wealth from the USA to Jewish Zionists (both in the USA and in Israel) so that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) can kill Arab children?"

    Theres a blogger saying:
'Israel Has Lost Its Right To Exist'

    And another Blogger saying this:
Gilad Atzmon – Eine Kleine Nacht Murder: How Israeli Leaders Kill for their People's Votes

In order to grasp the latest devastating murderous Israeli expedition in Gaza one must deeply comprehend the Israeli identity and its inherent hatred towards anyone who fails to be Jewish and a hatred against Arabs in particular. This hatred is imbued in the Israeli curriculum, it is preached by political leaders and implied by their acts, it is conveyed by cultural figures, even within the so-called ‘Israeli Left’.

Yeah, and the Arabs had the gall to create a shabby Mickey Mouse of their own, which was rightfully condemned by the West–everyone knows Mickey Mouse copyright is now owed by American Jews, and managed by the new Disney regime.

  8. David says:

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what Israel should do in these circumstances? Where rockets are being fired at them, where the rockets are reaching further into Israel? Where weapons are being smuggled into Gaza and the hands of Hamas, who have vowed to wipe them off the face of the earth.

    Anyone with any real solutions?

  9. BLG says:

UN: Israel violated truce 7 times in one week

    http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3560972,00.html

June 20 violation, one day after the ceasefire.

  10. BLG says:

Then comes US election night. When we were glued to the television sets, the IDF entered a refugee camp in Gaza to destroy a tunnel, then fighting broke out, where one Palestinian was killed. Then Hamas fired mortars, killing 0, and Israel launches airstrikes, killing 4 more Palestinians. Then things started to ramp up.

  11. Me says:

    @David:

Aside from the "wipe out"-bullshit and aside from BLGs spot-on remarks re who actually broke the truce, here are some suggestions:

Isreal must treat Jerusalem as the international and interreligious city that it is, not occupying it almost in it's entirety.

Then Israel must fall back to pre-1967 borders.

Then Israel must pay reparations for all the displaced and murdered Palestinians in exchange for not granting their right of return.

Then, and only then, after all this is accomplished, Israel can reach an agreement with the Palestinian People where both nations agree to create a common security force in all regions bordering Israel. The security force consisting of small land units should go after 1) Jewish settlers wreaking havoc and 2) Arabs lobbing rockets.

    Whadda ya say?

I think such a smallscale security force, which is granted full access to Palestinian land, is much more effective then airstrikes with 100 of mostly innocent victims. E.g., more Israeli and Palestinian lives would be safed that way.

  12. From a protest by Palestinian citizens of Israel, in Yafa :

  13. Ed says:

Chilean Jew @Daily Kos: "I had to defend Israel and Israelis with my friends and others who demanded I be consistent with my progressive views…I'm done justifying crimes against humanity by a country that claims to be an illuminated western democracy…And I don't know about you, but I'm done being a hypocrite."

If only the liberal establishment in America was half so honest. Instead, it continues to endorse everything organized Jewish Zionism does, as it has for decades. Why? Because it doesn't really believe its own "human rights, equality and social justice" rhetoric. It just uses it as a means of grabbing power.

The reason American establishment "progressives" are even worse than the worst of the American conservatives is that they pretend to be the ally of the downtrodden, and profess to represent the afflicted, even as they collaborate with their Judeofascist allies and money men to stomp the persecuted into the dirt. They exploit the civil rights niche for power, and then promptly betray it whenever gentile civil rights become inconvenient to their Jewish sugar daddies.

That the liberal establishment poses as the “opposition” to the Neocons is nothing but a sick joke, and it’s non-response to Israel’s latest Judeofascist aggression is just another example in a long chain of evidence. Liberal American trash has been pulling this Zionist crap for decades, it’s just that now more people are starting to take notice of how much liberal trash resembles GOP white trash. The only difference is it's even more hypocritical.

  14. Ed says:

US liberal trash is now using Palestinian bottle rockets as an excuse for the Gaza slaughter, just as they used the kidnapping of a couple of Jewish Zionist stormtroopers as an excuse for the decimation of Lebanon. The liberal trash establishment regards its Jewish sugar daddies as sacrosanct, a couple of their finger nails worth the lives of thousands. Get down on your knees for your Jewish sugar daddies, liberal trash.

EU foreign ministers to meet Tuesday on Gaza crisis Let's see what happens. Merkel's comments were predictable.

The best I heard on the many "specials" and "focal points" over here in Germany was from Udo Steinbach. He demanded that since the EU holds a good hand for pressure, they only need to play their cards right. I think that could be a signal for the Obama admin.

Unfortunately Steinbach has been under heavy assault from the Simon Wiesenhal center and other Jewish groups over here. So the careerist will take care to follow Merkel's lead. He was criticized for a missing distance towards representatives of Islam. The problem is, he is a scholar of Islamic Studies. Shouldn't one expect such a scholar to have connections with other scholars some of which are Muslims and some of which may even be politically questionable?

Glad you asked! Here's an example of a "homemade" Israeli rocket. It's called a Typhoon, and it's so superior to anything the US makes that the US Navy has ordered, you guessed it, hundreds of millions of your dollars worth!

Maybe now that Israel's missile industry the best in the world, they won't be needing any more billions of dollars in U.S. aid.

    No?

I guess The Typhoon is still no replacement for 150,000 American soldiers and hundreds of billions in American taxpayer money, when it comes to expanding The Realm.

  34. Ed says:

"Here's an example of a "homemade" Israeli rocket. It's called a Typhoon, and it's so superior to anything the US makes"

This reminds of the Israeli fighter pilots who bragged how superior they are to US top guns. Imagine that: Washington and US Zionist spies turn over every US secret under the sun to Israel, underwrite its defense budget, and the Israelis act as if they could defeat the US in an all-out war. Delusional.

Organized Jewry, like most successful swindlers, is excellent at inventing fantastical narratives and myths, and then selling them to world as reality, and as evidence of Jewish superiority and exceptionalism. Clearly, many Israelis actually believe their own lies, nut cases that they are.

It's gotten to the point where the only people who believe organized Jewry’s various chicanery-motivated narratives are Jewish Zionists themselves, low I.Q. suckers (some of whom are so superstitiously stupid they actually enjoy being swindled by “the chosen“) or those who have knowingly embraced evil in a political, economic or social Faustian bargain.

I guess you just can’t save some people from their own evil and stupidity.

The answer goes back two years. Israel and the Quartet should never have accepted to block the main Palestinian party from negotiations. It was a disaster waiting to happen. But more specifically, Hamas presented a ceasefire proposal on Dec 23 that also included the West Bank according to no less a source than Shin Bet (quoted in The Independent). So they were willing to extend the scope of the ceasefire considerably.

The answer to what Israel should do to stop the shelling was answered: negotiate a ceasefire with a willing partner. The Israeli leadership chose to unleash a Guernica instead. The ball was actually in Israel's court and it made a clear moral choice.
