According to Al-Mezan, the Palestinian human rights org (whose casualty figure has been oddly
conservative, lower than that used by most media outlets), the vast
majority of those killed have been civilians, with only 14 percent being fighters.
Some might demand that it be corroborated by an additional count, but
it does concur with accounts by civilians and medical personnel from
hospitals in Gaza, not to mention all the pictures coming out. The
majority of people killed in Lebanon in 2006 were civilians. Remember
too that according to several studies, principally those conducted by
The Lancet and Opinion Research Business, the majority of those killed in Iraq were civilians.
(PS: MP Kaufman's comment on the West being subdued by Holocaust guilt is an echo of what Desmond Tutu said a few months ago.)

The reason why is racism. Again, the idea that one "race" is superior. This first video shoes an Israeli soldier stating…"They are animals, and we have locked (in a cage,) they cant get out. We are human, they are animals, monkeys, dogs and gorillas." then he laughs as though it were a great joke.

Thanks for your blog, Philip Weiss. It helps to think and ponder.
The second video shown Israeli "tourists" to the front, to watch the extermination of the Palestinians who deserve to be wiped out because they elected Hamas. Then she laughs and calls herself a Fascist!

That is why we need diversity in the news, at all levals. To end the demonization of our opponant, who becomes our sworn enemy, and then "other."
I watched Kathy's suggestion above:

And I was struck by how what the tourist was saying is no different than what Zionists and Jews complained about in Nazi Germany.
The tourist's edict is to just wipe out the whole city because they elected Hamas. Exterminate them because they are the “other.”
Maybe antisemitism in a really virulent form needs to come back to cow these vermin. Maybe antisemitism is the only check against this revolting one-sided religious-created ardor, and it has a usefulness to keep this horrific thinking in check.
Americans who objected to the unthinking unspeakable devastation of Iraq by a lying US Prez suffered ostracism for speaking their points-of-view. I can tell you that I lost rafts of friends for opening my mouth starting in Sept 2002; even more than I did for pointing out that if burning jet fuel doesn't melt airplane parts when a jet is enroute from LA to La Guardia, how can that same fuel melt planes, vaporize them, inside the WTC towers. ['Splain' that logic, Lucy.]
Even though I am insignificant in the course of human life on this planet, and my voice is unheard, I opened my mouth. I said something. I objected to what I believe to be wrong.
The woman in this video is human trash. Vermin. The lowest common denominator of human being. And she and her ilk should not be lionized. Neither should the principles, religious or otherwise, upon which she bases her opinion.
Don't let it be said that we were not warned:
