Compassion for Dershowitz and his assistant

When the poet Randall Jarrell committed suicide in 1965 by stepping in front of a car, the poet Robert Lowell (as I recall anyway) said, "Think of the poor driver." I thought about this poetical comment today when my friend at Harvard who informed me about the threat to Alan Dershowitz in the envelope containing white powder wrote to me, "I was a bit shocked by the news. Much as I dislike his ‘liberal’
politics this is a form of intimidation which is criminal in nature/intent. Some
poor secretarial assistant is probably shocked and traumatized right now. Sigh."
