Giving Obama room to maneuver, ‘Washington Post’ editor slams Israeli government’s ‘dodges’

Our politicians won’t change till our journalism changes. Jackson Diehl, deputy editorial page editor of the Washington Post remembers that George Mitchell wanted an end to settlements, and the Israelis thumbed their noses at him:

Imagine a U.S. administration prepared to demand tangible steps toward
peace by both Israelis and Palestinians — and to publicly challenge an
Israeli government’s dodges.

Yes. Any American leader who ever pleaded against (not any, but more) settlements has been ignored. If not railroaded out of office.
Mitchell's track record means he will merely provide cover for the inevitable war plans for Iran and continued ghetto Gaza.
