How can we blame them if they blame the Jews?

Today I got another email from a Jewish friend worrying about the consequences to Jews of Israel's actions in Gaza. I've heard the same concern from non-Jewish friends, including a Muslim. Israel is showing shocking indifference to Arab life; and Israel has the fervent support, once again, of American Jewish leadership, epitomized by Reform Rabbi Eric Yoffie's belligerent statements in the Forward, let alone AIPAC and the Conference of Presidents and Alan Dershowitz. Yes, there are notable exceptions, including J Street and two rabbis associated with Brit Tzedek and Jewish Voice for Peace. But the bottom line is: the world recognizes Gaza as a horror, and American Jewish leadership is blind--and insists that Gaza is being carried out in the name of Jews. Marty Peretz says that young Jews who criticize this slaughter "hate their inheritance," or something like that. Yoffie said that J Street's criticism was "morally deficient, profoundly out of touch with Jewish sentiment."

I.e., It's Jewish to wantonly murder Arabs because some have attacked you.

I worry myself. And I guess the answer is twofold: 1, Young Jews, speak out against the horrifying indifference of your parents! And, 2, mainstream editors and producers (many of you Jewish), open your eyes, see what's happening, notice how the U.S. and Israel have separated themselves from world opinion, notice the gulf between your opinion pages and the blogosphere; and give prominence to Jewish critics of this outrage.

Anti-Israel Protesters Clash with London Police

"There were bloody clashes outside the Israeli embassy in London today as protesters threw fireworks, stones, shoes and glass bottles at riot police.

"The London rally was mirrored in towns and cities across the UK and locations around the world. They followed similar protests in parts of the Muslim world on Friday.

"Several hundred protesters later gathered outside the Israeli Embassy in Kensington calling for an immediate end to the Israeli air strikes. One group of demonstrators set fire to an Israeli flag while other protesters attempted to scale metal barriers protecting the embassy building."

  3. If Jews don't want to be blamed for Zionist crimes against humanity, they should work with the American Muslim community according to the strategy that I outline in Anti-Zionist Strategy for Muslim Americans.

"Israel is showing shocking indifference to Arab life."

One important effect of Zionism has been to create a fundamental Jewish-Arab opposition, where none had existed in the past. See Conundrum of Jewish Arab Identity.

Would it be more correct to say that Israeli public opinion is the real outlier? (among public opinions, not establishment mouthpieces, government or media)

My impression is that American public opinion is not, on average, on Israel's side this time. Have there been any reliable polls taken, with cross-country standardized questions, etc?

    From Reuters –

'Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, representing major powers sponsoring Middle East peace talks, planned to begin shuttling on Sunday between Israeli leaders and Palestinian leaders — Hamas's rivals — in the occupied West Bank.'

Oh great — talk to Israel and to the Quartet's Palestinian puppet government, while shunning the actual principals on — you know — the other side of the conflict, as it were. Well, at least Tonykins picks up some pleasant expense-account travel and five-star lodgings while indulging in a monumental, scandalous waste of time.

When will this risible, toadying poodle finally totter off to the pet cemetery, along with his blank-faced accomplice the Chimp?

Joachim quotes, "Israel is showing shocking indifference to Arab life." Should anyone with an IQ of 37 on a clear day be surprised. After all, wasn't it Zionists who delibrately withheld support for Jews trying to escape the death camps?

In his book, Yitzhak Gruenbaum, chairperson of the Jewish Agency's Rescue Committee wrote in his book, "In Days of Holocaust and Destruction:" "when they asked me, couldn't you give money out of the United Jewish Appeal funds for the rescue of Jews in Europe, I said, 'NO!' and I say again, 'NO!'…one should resist this wave which pushes the Zionist activities to secondary importance."

If they deliberately sacrificed fellow Jews, why not Arabs–or any others who stand in their way, for that matter?

More than treasures times erase, these Jews prefer to worship place. And so we live and so we die for places where our traces lie.

    I second that.

  11. Phil, if you only had some real intelligence and some real education, you would see that the expression "the Jews" is itself a maldefinition of the problem. Almost all jewish ideology is based on circular, self-justifying definition, starting with the fictitious "the Jews".
