1967 war

* Israel withdrawing water from the Jordan River.
* Arabs Build dam that would divert water. 1965.
* Israelis bomb dam.
* Israeli boat hits mine. 1966.
* Syrians and Israelis fire at each other. Both sides claim it was in response.
* Israelis invade West Bank. Battle ensues.
* President Lyndon B. Johnson says he thinks the invasion was disproportionate and bad for U.S.
* Jordan under pressure militarizes.
* Egypt and Syria sign defense pact.
* Aerial battle over Syria Golan Heights.
* Israelis start farming land in disputed demilitarized zone
* Syria shells tractors
* Israel brings armored tractors and Air force and army.
* Soviet Union fed false information to Syria that Israel was to invade Syria. Syria tells Egypt. Egypt closes straits of Tiran to Israeli ships.
* Israel uses closure as a reason to launch Pre Emptive strike on surrounding arab forces.

2008-09 Gaza War.
* Blockade
* Blockade not lifted
* Israel strikes tunnels on November 4.
* Hamas launches rocket
* Israeli Airstrikes
* More rockets.
* More cross exchange.
* Israel launches strike.

One closure of a strait equals justification of a pre emption. Continuing blockade of a people is worse than that.
Two standards.

From DemocracyNow:

In a report Thursday, the UN said thirty of the victims killed in the Zeitoun attack had been taking shelter in a home on orders from the Israeli military. More than 100 Palestinians had been evacuated there and told to stay indoors. Palestinian paramedic Attia Barami was among the first to reach the victims.

Attia Barami: “The Red Cross got permission for us for three ambulances to enter the northern area of Gaza. We found bodies that the tanks drove over. The medics checked the bodies and found damage at the cellular level, and bodies. This baby girl, age five months, she has been dead for more than two days. The dogs ate parts of the baby’s body. This baby was burned because you can see her face and body are dark and charred."

From the linked article –

'UNWRA spokesman Chris Gunness noted that all the footage released by the IDF of militants firing from inside the school was from 2007 and not from the incident itself. "There are no up-to-date photos," Gunness said. "In 2007, we abandoned the site and only then did the militants take it over." '

Says it all about how the Israelis operate. They tried to sucker the UN with some weak, fraudulent hasbara bullshit … and the UN didn't buy it.

The 'Holocaust guilt' era ended on 27 Dec 2008. But sending a couple of Israelis to The Hague would add an official imprimatur to the concept.
