Occupation at Scotland university ends school’s relationship with Israeli company

A student occupation at Strathclyde University in Scotland produced an agreement by Strathclyde to bring in 1-3 Palestinian students and not to renew a contract with an Israeli water company that supplies water to the school. An occupation at Manchester University is also demanding divestment. Here's the occupiers' blogsite; says the university refuses to talk turkey.

  1. Why on earth is a Scottish school buying water from any company in the Middle East? Israel doesn't have enough water for its own needs and it is starving Palestinians of their water. Then it sells water to Europe? Insane. Doesn't work environmentally, leaving aside the politics of it all.

  2. Everybody should be drinking their local tap water. If it's not good enough to drink then you should be out fighting for decent local water. Basic.

I understand that Somali pirates were paid 3 mil to release Ukrainian weapons.

Some people will capitualate to any piece of crap for peace and quiet.

The Jews of Germany did in 1933. But none of you learn.

Leila, the parent company, Eden Springs, takes water from the occupied Golan Heights and provides it to Israel. It also owns a number of water-related subsidiaries throughout Europe.

South African Dock Workers Won't Unload Israeli Goods

South African dock workers won't unload ships carrying goods from Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians, a union leader said Wednesday.

Randall Howard, general secretary of the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union, said it appeared a ship carrying goods from Israel was nearing Durban's port. If once the ship docks its cargo is determined to be Israeli, he said, union workers won't unload it.
''We will make that contribution,'' he said. ''The historic and heroic struggle of the Palestinian people for self-determination … is a struggle that SATAWU supports.''

Last year, South African dock and freight workers refused to unload a ship carrying weapons for Zimbabwe to protest Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's rule of the neighboring country. In the case of Israeli goods, Howard said, it did not matter whether they were weapons of vegetables.

"If it's an Israeli product, we're going to boycott it, plain and simple," he said.

Eden Springs is an Israeli company. It pillages water from occupied land taken from Syria. It takes 50% of Syrian water there. Sells it to western companies, for their office workers, and for general retail, etc. It is the largest water supplier of this character in Europe. What it does is, of course, against international law. So what's new?

What a nimrod. Citizen is claiming that an Israeli company is stealing half of Syria's water? Total fabrication.

Why is it that the Syrians and the Palestinians constantly complain about having their land taken away? If you wanted to keep your land, you probably shouldn't have started and lost all those wars with Israel.

Boo freakin' hoo. "The Jews took more of our land, just because we tried to exterminate them (again) waaaa, waaaa, waaaa."

Seriously, every time you assholes attack Israel, bad things happen to you. You tried to exterminate the Jews when Israel was founded, 700,000 thousand of you fled or were expelled. You tried again in 1967, you lost the Golan, the West Bank and Gaza. Now, you send rockets at Israel. Then after they demonstrate beyond any doubt that they could kick your asses at will, you idiots _still_ attack.

I mean stubborn is one thing, but come on. How many times do you have to touch the hot stove before you figure out that you get burned when you do that?
