High State Department official listed Obama’s election among ‘severe challenges and threats’ to Israel

Dennis Ross is a diplomat pretty high in the State Department under Hillary Clinton. He was lately appointed a special adviser on the Persian Gulf/Iran. Till lately, Ross was chairman of the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute, an Israeli thinktank. He seems to have stepped down; but is still on their board.
Note that, according to an official Israeli government statement, JPPPI officials lately briefed the Israeli prime minister and cabinet on the thinktank's report on the state of the Jewish people in 2008, made while Ross was chairman:

They
noted that at the beginning of 2009, the State of Israel and the Jewish
people are facing a range of complex and severe challenges and threats,
and called attention to the change of administration in the US,
geopolitical uncertainty, a continuing erosion in the US's global
position and the slide toward a multi-polar world, the strengthening of
Iran, Israel as a pretext for the dissemination of a new anti-Semitism,
the risk to Israel's image as a refuge for the Jewish people…

How do we reconcile Dennis Ross's high government position with his bifurcated loyalties? The only way to explain it is by talking about the Israel lobby and the importance of Jewish money in the Democratic Party political process. Note that Lester Crown, patriarch of a billionaire family in Chicago and a big Obama supporter, is affiliated with JPPPI. (Thanks to Ira Glunts)

So let's see if I got the neo-con logic straight. Per the AIPAC crew: Chas Freeman is not qualified because he has been smeared as biased in Middle East affairs. Dennis Ross is eminently qualified and "experienced" in ME affairs because he has WINEP and JPPPI credentials. Wow. Not just Israel First . . . Israel Only.

By the way, National Review's Jonathan Chait has posted a blistering response to Stephen Walt's blog supporting Chas Freeman and criticizing The Lobby. Chait's response possesses the usual canards we've come to expect from the "thundering herd." Click here:

Ross' JPPPI envoy to Israel puts the Obama administration, along with Iran, in the category of "severe challenges and threats" — even as Obama is providing Ross a job in that very administration? Talk about biting the hand that feeds. How typical of Ross, both to betray America by acting as an agent/spy for Israel (he did the same in the Clinton administration) and simultaneously be so unabashedly cavalier about it.

And how typical of the Zionist-occupied US media to completely look the other way.

Kudos to the 5th column of diaspora Jews milking the naive, well-intended goy America. Eventually the USA will see the light, and boot the one agenda jews out of the USA's foreign policy agenda.

The USA will see the light and boot bigots who are anything but retards who name themselves "average american". You may be an average shithead, but that's it.

Good thing real americans look the other way when Ed slimes by. If not, ED would be in jail. Petty idiocy.

Superdelegates Turned Down $1 Million Offer From Clinton Donor – May 19, 2008 02:50 PM
by Nico Pitney and Sam Stein
One of Sen. Hillary Clinton's top financial supporters offered $1 million to the Young Democrats of America during a phone conversation in which he also pressed for the organization's two uncommitted superdelegates to endorse the New York Democrat, a high-ranking official with YDA told The Huffington Post.
Haim Saban, the billionaire entertainment magnate and longtime Clinton supporter, denied the allegation. But four independent sources said that just before the North Carolina and Indiana primaries, Saban called YDA President David Hardt and offered what was perceived as a lucrative proposal: $1 million would be made available for the group if Hardt and the organization's other uncommitted superdelegate backed Clinton……

If you're interested in the foreign policy views of major Hillary Clinton financial backer Haim Saban, there's no need to follow the Atrios path of attempting guilt by association with Kenneth Pollack. He discussed his views on the Middle East and Persian Gulf region in great detail in a reasonably recent interview with Haaretz:
"When I see Ahmadinejad, I see Hitler. They speak the same language. His motivation is also clear: the return of the Mahdi is a supreme goal. And for a religious person of deep self-persuasion, that supreme goal is worth the liquidation of five and a half million Jews. We cannot allow ourselves that. Nuclear weapons in the hands of a religious leadership that is convinced that the annihilation of Israel will bring about the emergence of a new Muslim caliphate? Israel cannot allow that. This is no game. It's truly an existential danger."
