More importantly, though, the US has now openly embarked on adding Pakistan to the countries effectively 'under occupation', and that is certainly how the Pakistanis are seeing it and talking about it. The French stopped supporting Algerie Francaise and that was the end of the colonial regime, even if French power in the Middle East was not omnipotent, and French finances were weak.
