By the way, Mearsheimer spoke at a mosque in Detroit on Saturday night and made a strong pitch for the Muslim community to get behind the two-state solution and ally itself with the individuals and groups in the American Jewish community who favor that outcome. Only with such strong alliances, he said, could President Obama put pressure on Israel to accept the idea of creating a viable Palestinian state. Which, he said, is the only good alternative on the table.

I don't see how a two-state solution would prevent future Zionist depredation and rampages throughout the Palestinian territories or the larger Middle East. As long as Jews refuse to show acknowledgment, remorse, contrition, and atonement for the massive crimes and atrocities that have arisen from Jewish culture since the 1850s, we can be pretty certain that Zionists will continue to perpetrate the sorts of atrocities that Zionists have committed since the inception of the Zionist movement. In addition and even more important from the American standpoint, there is no reason to believe that Zionists will renounce their ongoing ethnonational financial warfare. Current demographics indicates that more Jews are leaving Israel than emigrating to the State of Israel and that the process will increase when Iran completes nuclear weapons technology development. Current projectionss indicate that at least one million Zionists will leave shortly after the first Iranian nuclear test. In any case the US subsidizes Israel minimally at around $60 billion per year and probably at closer to $100 billion per year (approximately half of Israel's GDP). The US gets nothing from Israel except tremendous liabilities (already the cost of Israel to the USA is probably close $6 trillion). As the economy worsens, more Americans will reevaluate the morality or rationality of the continued existence of the Zionist state. The probability that the State of Israel will last as long as the French Algerian colony (132 years) is quite low, and it will probably fall apart within the next two decades. For the USA to continue to maintain Israel is simply throwing good money, which we desperately need elsewhere, after bad.
The only problem, and it's a BIG one, with the conspiracy theories about USS Liberty, is that there was ZERO motive for Israel to attack the ship. An intelligence ship that didn't even have Arab translators on board, think about it, then re-examine your theory. After this friendly fire incident, the United States began supplying Israel with military aid, AFTER the attack. Another blow to the conspiracy theories.
