Dersh says Iran’s conduct mean US should take ‘whatever steps necessary’ re nukes

This was inevitable. The Harvard Crimson reports on what the so-far suppressed Iranian revolt means to nuke negotiations. And of course the arrow points one way for an ideologue:

History Professor Roy P. Mottahedeh, who specializes in Middle Eastern
intellectual history and is of Iranian descent, said he believes a
revolution may occur, and added that it is important to remember that
since martyrs sanctify any cause in the Iranian context, the more
people the regime kills, the more the opposition will feel
“sanctified.”

Mottahedeh also suggested that the West may not have as much to fear from the threat of a nuclear Iran as it thinks.

“The Iranian government is so disorganized that God knows if
they even know where [the nuclear program] is,” he said. “It’s
fractured, I should say—not disorganized. So fractured that one part
doesn’t know what the other part’s doing.”

But Law Professor Alan M. Dershowitz said that the United
States must take whatever steps necessary to ensure that Iran does not
procure a nuclear bomb.
“This is a suicidal nation,” he said. “It’s a terrorist nation.”

Regarding Iran, here's the viewpoint of the inestimable Michael Scheuer: http://security.nationaljournal.com/2009/06/iran-...

“This is a suicidal nation,” he said. “It’s a terrorist nation.” They don't call him Mr. Sunshine for nothing.

I think the aging Dersh was confused and actually thought the reporter was asking about the nation of Diaspora Jews, and Israel, respectively.

Dersh is a caricature of himself. The breaking point for me was when Dersh wrote an op-ed for the WSJ arguing that torture was appropriate in some cases. I read through the piece in disbelief, thinking this guy was an Ivy League barbarian. Now, everything he says is Israel-first. When he says, "the United States must take whatever steps necessary," what he means is that parents from the South should be prepared to sacrifice their children's lives for a neo-con agenda that began with the "Clean Break" manifesto. Dersh's problem is that he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, when he's only the loudest guy in the room. What a maroon.

PS. I'm assuming Dershowitz is NOT referring to the U.S. when he says: “This is a suicidal nation…It’s a terrorist nation.”

Wow…he just called an entire nation suicidal and a terrorist nation. These are the kind of "intellectuals" Israel has on it's side. Israel is bound to lose. Good luck to the Jews.

Here's something Dersh would approve of– Arianna censored a post I made earlier today explaining Sanford's dissappearance. I said Sanford was either off in France repackaging fertility drugs as Morning After pills or on the West Bank, dove hunting with Bibi and Avigdor. Now, we know that progressive like Arianna don't mind criticism of anti-abortion nuts, but upsetting financial backers and sponsors with criticism of the right wing government of Israel is never tolerated.

  9. MRW says:

Jesus. He's batshit crazy. A nuclear weapon from 3.5% enriched uranium? A universal first! Hope Iran patented that.

  10. Citizen says:

If Iran is a suicidal nation, why has it been around so long as aka Persia? And when's the last time it went to war across its borders, and/or in a preemptive strike? The last time it occupied another people? Didn't Iraq start the 8 year war–with the USA's help?

Mottahedeh is a brilliant writer. Dershowitz, on the other hand . . .

Exactly, tribal Jews are just as fascist and racist as the Nazis. They are projecting all of their faults and mental sickness onto the Palestinians or Lebanese or Iranians or Jimmy Carter or whoever while simultaneously milking the Holocaust – to avoid any of the relevant issues and to avoid any retrospection. Watch 'the Big Question' (or maybe it's 'the Big Debate') episode from BBC on YouTube about the notion of whether Israel is racist or not. There's a bunch of fascist pig-like Jewish Zionists there just spewing the typical hasbara. One is a female rabbi who keeps dodging the issue and focuses on those empty platitudes about a possible solution. So this Nazi doesn't want to talk about the subject-matter at all, she just comes on the show to deflect. Her opinion is a tactic – just like Witless's commentary. There's also a yuppie Indian on the show too. We all know India and Israel are getting close and it's sickening (that Raphael commercial? it's like the Zionists are this monolithic parasite that simply panders to whatever 'friendly' host it can find to keep itself alive). The guy also deflects and makes a lame analogy to Kashmir. The way he presents himself is in stark contrast to the realities of such a comparison and he seems like a phony. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RgowdRuO9k

I know that some of you are probably thinking you cannot believe this person because they are of all things a pro-Ahmadinejad cleric, but if you are an open minded person searching for ALL of the facts, rather than biased propaganda, you would take the time to read this interview: An Exclusive Interview with a Pro-Ahmadinejad Cleric in Qom, Iran http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ali-a-rizvi/an-excl...
