Jimmy Carter: ‘the citizens of Palestine are treated more like animals than like human beings’

President Carter was in Gaza today, and met with Ismail Haniya in addition to visiting other sites. Here are some of his comments as reported by AFP in the article “Carter says Palestinians being treated ‘like animals’“:

“My primary feeling today is one of grief and despair and an element of anger when I see the destruction perpetrated against innocent people,” Carter said as he toured the impoverished territory.

“Tragically, the international community too often ignores the cries for help and the citizens of Palestine are treated more like animals than like human beings,” he said.

“The starving of 1.5 million human beings of the necessities of life — never before in history has a large community like this been savaged by bombs and missiles and then denied the means to repair itself,” Carter said at a UN school graduation ceremony in Gaza City.

The United States and Europe “must try to do all that is necessary to convince Israel and Egypt to allow basic goods into Gaza,” he said.

“At same time, there must be no more rockets” from Gaza into Israel, said Carter, who brokered the historic 1979 peace treaty between Israel and Egypt.

“I have to hold back tears when I see the deliberate destruction that has been wracked against your people,” he said at a destroyed American school, saying it was “deliberately destroyed by bombs from F16s made in my country.”

Israel’s offensive killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and left large swathes of the coastal strip sandwiched between Israel and Egypt in ruins. Thirteen Israelis also died in the conflict.

“I feel partially responsible for this as must all Americans and Israelis,” Carter said.

Carter endorses Gush Etzion settlements (excerpt) Tovah Lazaroff, JPost, Jun 14 2009 http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=124437... Former US president Jimmy Carter gave his endorsement Sunday to settlements in Gush Etzion, located just south of Jerusalem. Carter said to the press at the end of his afternoon visit to Neveh Daniel, in Gush Etzion, as he stood with Shaul Goldstein, who heads the Gush Etzion Regional Council: This particular settlement area is not one I ever envision being abandoned or changed over into Palestinian territory. I think [it] will be here forever.

Jimmy's a politician, it's hard to break old habits.

  3. Joujolie says:

I just have such mixed feelings about this. I mean do we need an American president to come and feel emotional before the status of suffering/oppression is validated? Also have some issue with the comparison " treated like animals". But well, then again, maybe it's important that Carter keep visiting the region… It makes the area safer, Gaza won't be bombed when an ex US pres is there! Otherwise, Carter has been talking about this for a long time now, and as a result has been pariah-ed by the Democrat party in general, and generally booed when he went on tour to promote his book Palestine: Peace not Apartheid. He needs back up. His voice alone is not nearly enough, unfortunately.

  4. Ali Baba says:

Carter is gushing over because he knows the American people have not seen any reason to validate any Gazan suffering other than strict humanitarian reasons. Reasonably and politically, the Gazans engineered their own destruction.

  5. Jacqueline_Hyde says:

The missiles are an act of defiance. They're no threat to Israel and without them the Palestinians would never even be heard from. Vive les Rocketeers!

  6. Thom says:

Carter is just pissed that he lost his title of "Worst President since Hoover" to Bush. He's trying to make up for it. His ignorance of history is appalling "never before in history has a large community like this been savaged by bombs and missiles and then denied the means to repair itself". I guess he never heard of WWII then because we certainly denied Germany the means to rebuild until they surrendered. Hamas has not surrendered, so the war continues. The Palestinians are being treated like human beings, human beings who are loyal to an enemy government, but still human beings. If they want the blockade to end, they should stop the terrorism and return Gilad Shalit. The Palestinians are like someone in jail for contempt of court, they hold the keys to their own cell, they just choose not to use them. So any of you anti-semites on here want to answer that? The Palestinians want the blockade to end. It will end when they give up terrorism and return Gilad Shalit, so what is so essential for them about terrorism and one Israeli soldier that they would rather have the blockade than give them up?

  7. Elias Bwick says:

Why! the reason for using a phrase "treated like animals" is exactly reflected in the comments such as "engineered their own destruction". When a vast majority of pro-israeli community here in the US does nothing but blindly swallow all the garbage policies and rhetorics from a Zionist regime. When the suffering of a whole population does not invoke even an iota of guilt or sense of justice but in turn is easily thrust back upon the shoulders of Palestinians as their own doing….. well then phrases like "treated like animals" or more rightly "treated like caged animals" are befitting.

  8. thedhimmi says:

The rockets are an act of stupidity. They very rarely hurt anyone. They enrage the Israelis who end up killing the rocketeers.

  9. Gert says:

It will end when they give up terrorism and return Gilad Shalit, so what is so essential for them about terrorism and one Israeli soldier that they would rather have the blockade than give them up. Thom, the terrorism you're referring to is armed resistance to an Occupation, now 42 years running. There is no real 'war', only a disproportionate Israeli reaction to Hamas' acts of resistance. Gilad Shalit? How many Palestinians are held in Israeli prisonsThe Israeli G'ment could have oganised a reasonable swap a long time ago. Instead, the Zionist leadership doesn't care much about Gilad, in the greater scheme of things, Those abducted Israeli soldiers actually play into Israe's hands…

  10. Doppler says:

Jimmy Carter was a voice crying in the wilderness. According to that recent poll, via Ha'aretz to Mondoweiss, he's now crying in the crowded suburbs, as knee-jerk support in America for Israel against Islam is being replaced with much greater awareness and appreciation for the reality on the ground. He has had the courage of his convictions, and will be remembered for it.

  11. Gert says:

  12. Elias Bwick says:

There are upwards of 10,000 Palestinians languishing in Israeli Jails. But obviously one Israeli is worth 10,000 times more than all those Palestinian animals. Right? I wonder how some people can beat the drum of justice while being utterly unjust at the same time. The level of hypocricy is astounding. I sincerely believe that the Israel suffers from a sort of historical post traumatic stress disorder from WWII and the abhorent atrocities of Nazi era which in turn allows it to turn a blind eye to the suffering of Palestinians, 50 year later…

  13. Mythbuster says:

By existing. And being in the way. Thank you, Heinrich.

  14. Mythbuster says:

And lots of innocent children. You omitted that.

  15. Mythbuster says:

What an idiotic post. You clearly haven't been reading Phil's posts over the last year.

  16. Mythbuster says:

When a country elects a Black President, it matters. It gets harder and harder to argue that Israeli lives are worth more than Palestinian ones. And when your whole world view is based on the lie that God chose you, human equality is frightening indeed.

  17. Ali Baba says:

That is your belief, not the belief of the Israelis nor most civilized people. So sorry to see that you are not among them, Adolf.

  18. Ali Baba says:

If only the rocketeers did not use innocent children as human shields. You omitted that.

  19. Ali Baba says:

I'm certain the Israelis are more then willing to give up one low level Palestinian soldier for the low level Israeli soldier.

  20. Tuyzentfloot says:

    That's interesting.

  21. carnas says:

"But obviously one Israeli is worth 10,000 times more than all those Palestinian animals. Right?" By demanding the release of hundreds of prisoners for one Israeli soldier, aren't the Palestinians the ones who maintain such an equation?

  22. Ali Baba says:

But only an idiot would bother reading those posts over the last year.

  23. Barbara says:

Sheesh. Of course the Palestinians are treated like animals. It is easy to do when their occupiers consider all people who are not Jewish to be "two legged beasts". It is easy to do when you hold all the cards on both local and international levels. It is easy to do if you control the whole situation rigidly via the media. Of course, eventually the truth outs. Then things tend to become a tad icky and risky. The day to day assassination of Palestinians, and theft of their land is more of that disproportionate behavior due not to Hamas resistance but to plain ordinary greed. Because again, animals are not allowed to own anything if a Jew wants it. Talmud again. This Thom lives up to these beliefs if he denies the prisoners in Israeli jails. And if he denies the hundreds of children in those jails. And if he denies the use of them as slave labor, something not only Israel indulges in. But then if he is an Israeli, he believes anyone over 12 is an adult. Old enough to have had his bar mitzvah if I remember correctly. I used to think the run of the mill Israeli was not of the same mindset as most of the Talmudic Zionists until I followed the comments in Ha'aretz and a few other Israeli papers. They almost all were bloodthirsty and lacked no compassion, and stated only the views that they are given by the Media. It has been pointed out that when Israel sends out a news item, it goes out in up to eight or nine versions depending upon who is being fed what line of thinking. However, mind controlled or not, I found that most of the young Israelis think no differently than the IDF baby killers and the raving lunatic hate espousing rabbis. And if Thom is a settler, then expect no reason from him at all!

  24. Ali Baba says:

The reason for using idiotic phrases by the Carters of the world is to try to shake off reason. Won't work. Few in America care about the Palestinians and their drive to become like the lemming.

  25. Ali Baba says:

Jimmy Carter was a voice crying in the bathroom. Everyone who passes by smells the shit.

  28. Aku Baba says:

Sorry, why do you call the Israelis civilized? If anyone has had Adolf Hitler as a mentor, it is the Zionist regime in Israel.

  29. Amore Lapote says:

And how many Pals are kept in torture jails, 10,000? And how many elected Pals are there too, 40 or fifty, the rest being killed? And we should worry about one pencil necked IDF soldier?

  30. Beloy Pasteruer says:

Right, the USA masses are too busy becoming the lemmings, spending their future generations income and their present bodies for Israel.

  31. Strahl says:

If only you had an actual study that proves these rocketeers use human shields consistently. (Because that's the pertinent filter for anyone who thinks critically – Israel too has used human shields so simply stating the fact that Hamas or Hezbollah has used these tactics is not enough. The issue is how much in correlation to the high civilian death toll.) But you can't do that since you're inherently dishonest (as all Zionists are).

  32. Strahl says:

And yet here you are. Funny how trolls are amongst the ardent supporters of the blog.

  33. dalybean says:

Shalit's own parents have asked that their son not be used as an excuse to kill more Gazans. The GOI and the Zionists ignore their pleas. Shalit's parents support Carter, who was to deliver a letter to their son.

  34. PlanetMichelle says:

amen Jacqueline! Funny how it's not mentioned by either Carter nor Obama WHY the rockets were being launched from Gaza in the first place. I doubt the sincerity of anyone who speaks without putting things into context. It was never mentioned during the attack on S. Lebanon that the Israelis were crossing their border and invading their airspace. They fire missiles and drop bombs at will. It never gets a mention. Only that Hizbolla "kidnapped" their soldiers…ha! Same deal with Gaza. This is how it's all presented to the public so that some hick will say how the Arabs "engineered their own destruction." What satisfaction the Israelis must get from these illiterates. And the ex presidents get to publicly go around and express their distaste for violence to add to their legacy before they drop into the hell fire. They are all nutjobs.

  35. PlanetMichelle says:

Israel is an imported military base protecting imported evil murderous masterminds. The imported Jews (elderly, women and children) are a human shield with an army buffer. Pretty good cover, I would say, it certainly costs us tax payers enough money to maintain evil. Too bad we are not asked who we would like to support because I would choose for my money to serve the people who try to mind their own business in their own homeland. I don't much care to pay for my own destruction via Israel, especially when it does not even get me high.

  36. Lanie says:

It saddens me to read such hateful propaganda in this publication. "Day to day assassinations?" Israelis "controlling the media?" This smacks of the venom spewed forth by Nazis in the late 1930s, or modern-day white supremacists declaring the Elders of Zion as truth. How can we ever have peace in this region when one side demonizes the other as in Barbara's post? There is a saying that I do believe is true. If the Palestinians laid down their arms tomorrow, there would be peace. If the Israelis laid down their arms tomorrow, there would be no Israel.

  37. Richard WittyI says:

Its a ludicrous statement to say that rockets randomly fired at civilians is "resistance".

  38. Strahl says:

I agree. The rockets targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure is an act of terrorism. However, Hamas is NOT a terrorist group. Neither was Irgun but they engaged in tremendous terror and carried out massacres. Militant nationalist groups are not much better than comic-book terrorist groups, but that's the accurate term and it demystifies the dishonest manner in which the label 'terrorist' is applied to designated 'enemies of the State'.

  39. Strahl says:

Exactly, fascist Jewish Zionists want people to sympathize with one Jewish Zionist Occupying soldier because he is ONE. They can make mystify his circumstance. They have the capacity to cry about their troubles and people will be able to hear them since their perspective is the favored mainstream perspective (not the truth). On the flip-side, 1000s of Palestinians (1000s of minors as well) have been held in Israeli jails. 1000s without any paperwork. Countless tortured. IN every single allegation that Israel levels at the Palestinians, they themselves are guilty of. In many cases, they are much MORE guilty of these allegations by factors of 10! Of course these people are sanctimonious. They can only 'point-score' when their audience is uninformed.

  40. Strahl says:

Why don't you counter the arguments rather than cry-wolf. No one says JEWS CONTROL THE MEDIA. People say that the media is first and foremost an INSTITUTION. And you can STUDY institutions. Have you ever read or heard of 'Manufacturing Consent'? By Chomsky and Herman. It's an institutional analysis of the media and it takes a materialist approach. The US facilitates IDENTITY POLITICS. Also think about the whole LOBBYING system in our country. Of course the Jewish minority in our country have more power than any other minority and most other groups if not all other groups. It has to do with social-networking/money/coincidence that there is a good deal of collusion between Jewish political (Zionism) interests and American foreign policy). There are filters in the MSM that weed out dissident views. It's not so much censorship as it is the fact that you could not host 'Meet The Press' unless you hold certain political views. So kindly fuck off Lanie if you're going to spew gross generalizations and straw man the opposition's arguments. Read a book maybe too.

  41. Thom says:

Actually Babs, I'm an American. Ask the Native Americans whether that makes me a settler. As for Jews considering all people who aren't Jewish "two legged beasts" that is nowhere in Judaism and everywhere in anti-Semitic, neo-Nazi propaganda against the Jews. Thanks for outing yourself Eva Braun. Don't you have a cross burning to get to? Wait, you're not Barbara Lubin are you? If you are then how about telling us why you lied about that "Sophie's Choice" atrocity hoax by saying you heard it first hand from the victim (the one who actually died in a very different incident from the one you lied about).

  42. Thom says:

I notice that none of the posters here have answered the question about "why not return Shalit and end the blockade". I'm not surprised. It's a simple exercise in logic: "We want the blockade to end" "Giving up Shalit and terrorism will end the blockade" "Therefore we should give up Shalit and terrorism". So why not give up Shalit and terrorism. I guess it is a difference in how I see the world vs how the Palestinians and their supporters see it. I think "how can I make my life better?" while they think "how can I hurt people who are keeping me from what is rightfully mine?" If the Palestinians wanted to make their lives better, then the logic of giving up Shalit and terrorism holds regardless of how many Palestinians are in Israeli jails or why. The fact that the Palestinians would rather pursue ineffectual terrorism while demanding things that Israel can't give them (like the right of return) is why I have no sympathy for them as a people, despite any sympathy I may have for individual Palestinians who realize that fighting Israel is a bad idea.

  43. EvaSmagacz says:

TO FEED THE TROLL: Basic tuna and pasta recipe: Cook pasta, drain, rinse, and drain again. While pasta is cooking, peel and slice one onion and fry till soft. Open can of tuna and can of corn. Add to onion and mix to warm through. Mix with pasta. Add salt and pepper. Serve

  44. Thom says:

So answer me this Palestinians. Given the choice between (1) making your life better in your own country, even if it meant giving up the right of return and accepting the permanent existence of Israel (a real peace, no a hudna) or (2) fighting Israel, even if it meant that your lives would continue to be mired in poverty, unemployment, and blockade. Which would you choose? If the answer is (1), then why not take Israel's offer and get on with your lives?

  45. Joe says:

Funny how there is no mention of the Palestinian's attempt on Carter's life.

  46. Joe says:

people like Barbara are obviously card carrying anti-semites so why try to reason with them? I dont think she would even make a feeble attemp to deny it

  47. carnas says:

Your consistent references to the Talmud show you have no idea what you're talking about. Most Israelis are secular and wouldn't know the Talmud from Harry Potter.

  48. carnas says:

"No one says JEWS CONTROL THE MEDIA. " lol. Have you read this blog recently? Or do you just not understand English?

  49. Strahl says:

Notice how all these trolls are using puppet accounts. How? Because we've had a sudden influx of them. More than usual. And they all happen to not have an intensedebate account. Phil check the IPs please and ban multiple IPs charading as more than one person. This is ridiculous.

  50. spuxx says:

"If there is a real plan to resolve the Palestinian question on the basis of the creation of a Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967 and with full sovereignty, we are in favour of it" – Ismail Haniyeh

  51. Nth Republic says:

So, did anyone else notice the Ha'aretz story reporting that Hamas stopped a plot to assassinate Carter during his trip to Gaza, allegedly perpetrated by "militants linked to al Qa'ida"? Of course the comments section of the story is filled with detractors and disbelievers, but what else is new? Personally I think the story has merit — although I'm not sure about the al Qa'ida links, I'd need some more information on that — I tend to trust Ha'aretz, especially when compared with other Israeli media sources, and numerous witnesses' description of Hamas' security operatives near the Erez border crossing conducting a controlled blast of two explosive devices sounds plausible and credible to me, given what I know about the organization. The same goes for Hamas' subsequent denial of knowledge of the operation, and Carter's staff's ambiguity when asked about it afterward.

  52. EvaSmagacz says:

Could be the same people who were helping Israel wreck the truce in Gaza and those who kidnapped BBC journalist Alan Johnson. Strange bedfellows………..

  53. Marion says:

Jimmy's a Christian Zionist politician so him saying this may be true…Although I have lot's of respect for the man, he needs to shed himself of his Christian Zionist thinking when politicking…..How can one get away with claiming to be representative of the separation of Church and State, yet at the same time not follow it…Only in an America that has a different standard for itself than it does for others….

  54. Marion says:

Most of the rockets randomly fired land far away from civilian areas, therefore how can you claim that they are randomly fired at civilians? It is also ludicrous to claim that "targeted killings" using bombs dropped from military jets, that kill and maim so many innocent people on the ground, not to mention destroy their properties and infrastructure, is an act of self defense….

  55. pro justice says:

Why should they abandon thousands of their people and let them rot in Israeli jails? You wouldn't ask this of the Israelis if the reverse was true you'd demand that they be freed at all cost.

  56. Jake in Jerusalem says:

US Mission Personnel, like consular staff from all other countries, only travel in the vicinity of Arab neighborhoods in HEAVILY ARMORED VEHICLES AND HEAVILY ARMED ESCORTS. And the US being the US, they take along only their own vehicles and armed guards. But the US does NOT have such regulations or restrictions on staff movements in Jewish areas. If you still can't see who's doing the shooting, bombing and decapitating, then you are an antisemitic MondoBigot.

  57. Jake in Jerusalem says:

The IDF has released LOADS of aerial video footage showing Gazan Hamas rocket squads launching from school yards, markets and homes. In most or all cases, the IDF could have launced an IMMEDIATE retaliation that would have sent these murdering Jihadis to their Virgin Boys in Mohammed's Hell, but the IDF refrained from doing so – PRECISELY BECAUSE THE ROCKET SQUADS WERE LAUNCHING FROM AMONG CIVILIAN AREAS. Many such cases…

  58. Jake in Jerusalem says:

Strahl: "Hamas is NOT a terrorist group" Do you see why it is not possible to reason with Strahl?

  59. Jake in Jerusalem says:

Most of the bullets in a drive-by shooting in LA land far from real humans. Only a few people are injured and killed. I suppose that you don't consider drive-by shootings in the USA to be murder, either….

  60. Jake in Jerusalem says:

Gazans were shooting at and murdering Israeli farmes and travellers long before 1967. The Islamic urge to kill (and to kill Jews, especially) has nothing to do with "occupation", imagined or real.

  61. Jake in Jerusalem says:

Correct!!! I love it when the Pals cry "Israel isn't fighting DISPROPORTIONATELY" as if wars are fought by bean counters who match the number of bullets each side is allowed to fire. But when it comes to kidnapping Infidels, the Brave Muslim Warriors see no problem with demanding over 1,000 Muslim murderers in exchange for one Infidel (even if he has already been murdered, as in the case of Israeli bodies returned by Hizbullah last year). Muslim bigots and the Infidels who love them….

  62. Jake in Jerusalem says:

More idiocy from Strahl. "one Jewish Zionist Occupying soldier"???? Gilad Shalit was KIDNAPPED from OUTSIDE THE GAZA STRIP and quickly taken INTO the Gaza Strip. He was no more occupying Gaza than, oh, Jimmy Carter in Plains, GA!!! Strahl logic….

  63. Jake in Jerusalem says:

No US soldiers are fighting or have fought for Israel. MANY US soliders are STILL fighting for Arab and Muslim societies…. Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, more… If you want to be a fascist bigot, at least get your facts right…

  64. Jake in Jerusalem says:

"Why don't you counter the arguments rather than cry-wolf." Strahl, I have knocked down your ignorant, bigoted postings more times than you can count (you're not very good with numbers, either). It is YOU who has NEVER countered a single posting of mine. Oh, your wonderful command of language and politeness really convinces us that you are interested in the truth…

  65. Jake in Jerusalem says:

Thousands of their terrorists and murders, you mean to say. Pals don't want to settle. They only want Jihad forever. This is why they have CONSISTENTLY REFUSED ALL OFFERS OF PEACE, EVER SINCE THE INVENTION OF THE "PALESTINEAN NATION". If you are hoping for peace, with Pals, don't hold your breath. It has nothign to do with Israel or Jews or even Carter, Clinton or Obama. It has everything to do with Jihad forever…

  66. Jake in Jerusalem says:

It makes one wonder who REALLY controls the media….. Just ask Al Jazeera….

  67. Jake in Jerusalem says:

IP addreses don't matter. You STILL won't be able to counter any of their arguments. Best to ban them all, right?

  68. ChosenOne says:

And if you can't see who's doing the starving, who's homeless, who's being treated like curs, and who got attacked with the latest American financed and made weapons, then you are antigoy.

  69. US Guy says:

It's more ludicrous to infer that resistance fighters do not fight with any weapon available, even if it's home-made rockets sans guiding system. In the Warsaw Ghetto they fought with what they had; ditto the Palestinians. If the USA wanted to help, it could give the Pals more efficient rockets so they could hone in on the IDF and its suppliers rather than merely tossing out weak rockets on the people who en masse support the continued suppression of the natives–because that's the nature of the only weapons they have.

  70. Citizen says:

I see you are not a lawyer. If you were, you would know if your actually practiced for any length of time, that the judicial weapon of contempt is often hurled against someone who realizes how biased the judge is. If you don't think judges area biased, perhaps you should take a look at the recent US Supreme Ct opinion on lobby influence on elected judges.

  71. Uncle Morty says:

Yes, we Americans like to be lemmings following hasbara religiously. We don't want to have to actually think about US foreign policy as we don't care unless our kid comes home in a box; then, we only want to hear how he or she died for a worthy cause because otherwise we have to face the fact we are chumps for Israel. When's the last time anyone stopping on this blog had a relation or friend who was Jewish who joined the War ON Terrah by joining the army of the land they grew up in?

  72. Uncle Morty says:

A companion inquiry would be, when's the last time anybody you know actually looked into how the Federal Reserve operates? And did you notice who was the biggest official donors of both the Obama and McCain campaigns? Hint: Look to Wall St.

  73. US Guy says:

Er, I think the shit you are smelling is that left by pimply, pencil necked IDF soldiers last time they made their deposit in Gaza.

  74. Citizen says:

Yes. You have one IDF soldier, captured while invading Lebanon, versus thousands of Palestinian civilians imprisoned by Israel, not to mention assassinating Hamas democratically elected officials, with no protest from the USA.

  75. Eva Braunstein says:

Thom, you are not an American, a non-ethnic/racist catagory of sophisticated humanistic belief defined by applicable ideas and for which a Civil War was fought, and two world wars were fought, and the source for every Constitution of any country recognized later. The Nuremberg Trials came way after the Wild West; and was followed by Geneva, the World Court, etc. Who points to the caveman for ethics? You do. Also, you should read the Talmud. It clearly demarcates a bipolar world, one higher, one lower. If you want to center instead on the Torah, consider its G-D, the vile nature of such an unfair being.

  76. Blondie says:

Actually they are similar in that they posit a bipolar world, the good and the bad. Different strokes for different folks, depending on if you were born of a jewish vagina pretty much. Very Un-American, to say the least.

  77. Laurie M says:

The truth hurts, eh? Are you saying Israel has continuously assassinated democratically elected Hamas leaders? Are you saying the US MSM has not supported hasbara talking points for decades? That American congress people depend on AIPAC OK for their future or continued slots? Face the facts. Further, great, Israel must be armed to the teeth by its goy lackies in the USA; otherwise, the Pals might be recognized as human beings. God forbid.

  78. Citizen says:

Nice. You make your life better by living in the USA, defended by goy troops. Jews can claim God gave them the disputed land, and the Pals have to bow down to that God? Not until they get as much money from Uncle Sam as Israel does. Uncle Sam himself it of course a crook, by which I mean, he's not concerned with 98% of Americans, but only those who keep him in power.

  79. Alice says:

Er, why should the Pals give up the right of return, but not the Jews?

  80. onlooker says:

Yeah, lots of Americans have heard of Al Jazeera, none have heard of Joe Lieberman.

  81. Thom says:

That's not saying anything. I'm willing to get what I want too, that doesn't mean I am willing to give you anything to get it. So he is willing to accept a Palestinian State with half of Jerusalem and everything else. Then what? Then he uses that sovereign state to attack Israel. Moot point anyway since even if Israel offered him all the land outside of Israel's June 4, 1967 borders the Palestinians would still turn it down if it didn't include the right of return to what's would be left of Israel.

  82. Thom says:

Actually no. If the situation were reversed, and 10,000 Israelis were being held by a government that Israel couldn't defeat, and which wanted to make peace I would tell the Israelis to make peace then negotiate the release of the prisoners later. Of course, if you meant "if the Palestinians were holding an Israeli soldier" I still wouldn't demand that he be freed at all cost. I oppose trading so much as one single Palestinian terrorist for Shalit. I think that Israel should (1) unilaterally release any Palestinian prisoners (if any) that are not guilty of past acts of war or terrorist activities, (2) trade Shalit for Palestinian prisoners who committed acts of war, but not terrorism, and (3) not release any that are guilty of past terrorism. I think the Israeli government acted idiotically when it released a child-murdering terrorist to Lebanon in exchange for the corpses of two Israeli soldiers. BTW, I mean the guy actually murdered a little girl, as in bashed her brains in on a rock for absolutely no reason other than she was Jewish. He didn't accidentally shoot her while shooting back at someone. He was treated to a hero's welcome when he got back to Lebanon BTW. Where is your outrage over that? I don't count the capture of Shalit as a terrorist attack BTW, an act of war, yes, but not terrorism since he was a soldier on duty, not a civilian. However, as an act of war, the kidnapping of Shalit justifies Israel in prosecuting the war that the Palestinians clearly want. The blockade is a fairly mild act of war in response to the Palestinians' acts of war against Israel and the Palestinian war crimes in not letting the Red Cross have access to Shalit.

OK, I'll enlighten you. There are two kinds of contempt. Civil contempt and criminal contempt. Criminal contempt is where you are put in jail as a punishment for past actions (like being rude to the judge). Criminal contempt is time limited. You serve your time (usually hours or days) then you get out. Civil contempt is where you refuse to follow the courts orders to do something, usually testify. You sit in jail until you either agree to do what the court says or when the judge (or a higher legal authority) decides that there is no further reason to hold you (e.g., the case you were being held to testify in ends). It is of civil contempt that it is said the contemptnor "holds the keys to the jail". The longest civil contempt case I know of was 6 years, but the guy could have gotten out at any time by telling the government what they wanted to know. While you don't have to be a lawyer to know that saying, I would be surprised if you were a lawyer, given that you don't know it.

Why should the Germans surrender in WWII and not the Americans? You lose the war, you don't get to dictate terms. If they don't want to surrender, then the war will continue and they should quit whining about the blockade.

GIYUS TROLLS – BUZZ OFF !!! The Megaphone desktop tool is a Windows "action alert" tool developed by Give Israel Your United Support (GIYUS) and distributed by World Union of Jewish Students, World Jewish Congress, The Jewish Agency for Israel, World Zionist Organization, StandWithUs, Hasbara fellowships, HonestReporting, and other pro-Israel public relations, media watchdog, or activism organizations. The tool delivers real-time alerts about key articles, videos, blogs, and surveys related to Israel or the Arab-Israeli conflict, especially those perceived by GIYUS to be highly critical of Israel, so that users can vote or add comments expressing their support of Israel. The tool was released in July during the 2006 Lebanon War. An RSS newsfeed is available so that non-Windows users may also receive the Megaphone "action alerts."[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

I went to the doctor here in Jerusalem last week. The patient before me was an Arab woman – a really gigantic, obese, enourmously fat Arab woman. I wish you could have seen her. Israel is starving the poor Arabs… imaging how enormous she would be if she was actually allowed to eat????? P.S. If you're reading MondLies, you've probably seen HUNDREDS of photos of "Palestineans", perhaps thousands. Have you EVERY seen a photo of a starving Pal? Anyone even look in the slightest bit underfed? Not enough muscle tone? Very often, they are FAT PIGS. Ever wondered about that? P.P.S. Please don't mention the REAL STARVATION OF INFIDELS AT THE HANDS OF GENOCIDAL MUSLIMS. Real facts aren't allowed at MondoLies.

  88. Jake in Jerusalem says:

The Red Cross reported disappointment in that Hamas won't let them visit Gilad Shalit – a violation of Geneva Conventions, incidentally, but rules don't apply to Arabs and Muslims… The Red Cross took about three years to realize that there might be something wrong with Hamas…

The Jewish Right of Return is to the lands from which they were ETHNICALLY CLEANSED by Araband Islamic societies. The ARabs won't allow Jews back to Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Morrocco, Algeria, Libya, Yemen, etc etc Even when trying to find "peaceful coexistence" in Gaza and the WB, the Arabs ALWAYS demand an ETHNICALLY CLEANSED territory, with no Infidel Jews left behind. While the Arabs refuse to allow OTHERS the right of return, they demand it for themselves. Typical. And you fell for it. Typical.

    1) American Jews have died in the Middle East in recent years fighting in the US armed forces. 2) American Jews have died in other places over the years fighting in the US armed forces. 3) American Jews have died fighting to protect the United States of America. 4) American Jews have died fighting for the Independence of the original colonies and to preserve Abraham Lincoln's union. 5) American Jews have died fighting to further US foreign policy, as determined by the government of the USA. Have you counted how many US soldiers have died in protecting a bunch of Arab and Islamic despots in the last 2 or 3 decades? Can you? Have you written your Congressperson about the US protecting PetroSheiks and Islamo-Dictators? You are an ignorant, antisemitic bigot.

Wow. I really called it right on this one. I just looked at Barbara's blog. She writes under the name Barbara L Canada (don't know whether that is a pen name or not). She is a genuine, raving-lunatic, anti-Semitic, conspiracy nut. One of those people that thinks the a Jewish conspiracy runs the world and Jews were behind 9/11. Not to mention articles about Jews doing ritual human sacrifice, mind control and satanic cults, blood drinking. Fake Talmud quotes. She even thinks we're behind the swine flu. I kid you not. This is from her site "Did the Global Zionists create a superbug to kill off the pesky Goyim masses plaguing what they consider to be their God-given world?" Oh this is hilarious. I just found her post about "the Synagogue of Satan". I have read Chick Tracks that were saner (and less funny) than this. http://snippits-and-slappits.blogspot.com/2009/05... It is a classic neo-Nazi site except that she doesn't seem to like the KKK. I guess the only people she hates are the Jews. This is your target demographic, Phil and Adam. You should do a poll on that. Find out how many posters on here think Jews are behind 9/11.

(1)The Palestinians have long agreed to accept Israel existing within secure borders (it's on paper). (2) Israel demands formal recognition of having a right to have dispossessed the Arabs from their homeland. Israelis don't care about #1. I know why. Because these Zionist Jews are faggy pip squeaks, hence their need to over compensate by their pathetic desire to stand over the manly Arab and beat their caved in pasty white chests. I can't empathize pathetic enough in their case. The Arabs thus far won't give them that which they desire most. Security is not the question but recognition, in public for all the world to see, that the Israeli is the alpha male of the territory. They are silly baboons with state of the art weapons. I hope the Arabs never give them what they so badly desire.

  93. PlanetMichelle says:

The fascist Zionists sent spies and trouble makers into the Arab countries to create events so that innocent Jews were to blame (just as they have done more recently in Iraq so the American audience will think the barbarians are Arab) plus the Zionists made many false promises to immigrating Arab Jews, instead of being equal in a country they could call Jewish they were slave labors just as they are today. It's the elitist fascist Ashkenazi , you know, the fake Jews, who do well in Israel. Get rid of Israel and all that will be worked out with the Arabs between themselves. The Palestinian Jews Muslims and Christians in particular had NO problems living together before the Ashkenazis invaded.

  94. Jake in Jerusalem says:

MIchelle, you fooling around with Martillo? He already sleeps with a Muslim wacko. Your blabbering about Ashkenazis betrays your ignorance. Your blabbering about Jewish spies betrays your gullibility. Your blabbering about Muslims and Jews living happily in "Palestine" betrays your intellectual dishonesty. You and Martillo make a good match, after all!!!!

Israelis are the real terrorists! Israel is who has bred terrorism by their invasion of Palestine! And the Jews are a despicable race… after the Nazis put them through a holocost, the Jews turn around and do the same thing to the Palestinians! How hypocritical is that! Death to all Zionist Jews!!!

  96. deathtozionists says:

Palestine is defending itself from an occupation that started over 60-years ago. The only reason the Zionist were allowed into Palestine is because the world felt sorry for them. "Oh what tangled webs we've weaved when first we practice to deceive". Zionists Jews are the most greedy hypocritical murderous sorry-ass excuse for human beings. I have no sympathy for what happened to them at the hands of the Nazis because they turned around, after being liberated, and did the same damn thing to the Palestinians. And claimed it was to defend themselves! How can any Palestinian stand silent while for 60+ years the Israelis have been murdering and slaughtering and trying to "ethnically cleanse" the land that they want full control of? The Palestinians are defending themselves of decades of occupation and murder. And you want to call the Palestinians terrorists?!? Look in the mirror you murdering terrorist bastards… yes you, the Jews!! The Jews weren't happy with splitting Palestine in half with Jerusalem being an international city… they have to have it all at the horrific expense of others. Zionists will answer to their Maker and they will burn in the Hellfire for eternity! Oh I long for that day!!!
