Netanyahu emphasizes Israel’s God-given right to the ‘Land of Israel’

Haven't seen the speech transcript yet. AP says that Netanyahu broke new ground by offering a limited Palestinian state. A flag and currency– sounds like. A friend who has seen it writes that the speech was red meat to the right wing:
Netanyahu opted to pander to the consensus, most especially to the settler base, which was his audience at Bar Ilan University. He made them very happy.

Mean-spirited in the extreme, he emphasized on Israel's god-given right to the "Land of Israel" (euphemism for Israel Plus–plus Judea and Samaria, i.e., the West Bank, aka Palestine). And on Israel's right to all of Jerusalem. There was not a generous word about the Palestinians. Only the usual tone of threat. There was no surprise in this, of course, but the nasty, supercilious, and hypernationalist tone even took my breath away.

Lest you think it was all negative, he did offer to cooperate with the Palestinians on solar panels.

"…Americans who are largely church-going…" Oh, really?

RE: if the Reverend Moon of the Moonies announced that his God had promised him Manahatan, how many New Yorkers would say, "that sounds reasonable?" MY EDICT: I'll be the judge of that!

I believe he was speaking metaphorically. If not, perhaps he is a polemicist.

RE: There's no support in this country to designate America "the Christian state." MY COMMENT: I beg to differ! Oh wait, what 'country' are you speaking of?

In my country, we say: "Pardon?"

Nothing you posted contradicts (or even relates to!) my posting. Something wrong with you? As for Jews ethnically cleansed by Arabs, tens of thousands of Jews were either killed or expelled by Arabs in what you call the West Bank between 1920-1948. HUndreds of thousands of Jews were either killed or expelled by Arabs in ARAB COUNTRIES, not in Israel. Places like Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, Morrocco, Yemen and more. You are so confused on the facts I feel bad giving you more facts. You clearly have trouble handling facts.

1) You have failed to make a case against ANY of the facts I posted earlier. 2) Israel HAS given over 90% of the territory in dispute to Arab control. 3) That Gaza is a hellhole (like other fundie territories, e.g. Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc.) is NOT the fault of Israel. Stop blaming Israel for Arab backwardness. 4) That family on the beach… they were killed by Hamas rocket fire. Get your facts straight. Just as Arabs blame everyone else for their own self-induced problems, Hamas routinely blames Israel for it's own goofs. And you swallowed the whole lot.

Read my first statement. "Eva, you are a fool." Nothing in your response has anything to do with what I wrote. Read carefully before replying. Thank you.

As I've written in a different comment: They may not be a majority – I'm certain that they aren't, in fact. But they are those who make an impression on the Palestinians. Radical, racist settlers are those who go out and reach ordinary Palestinians – with insults, stones and bullets, mostly. If you want to improve your image among Palestinians and everybody else – why not reign them in?
