Days after the slapping video made by Israeli soldiers revealed how deeply-dehumanized Palestinians are in the Israeli mind, here is a horrifying story from the Gaza Strip, from the International Solidarity Movement. Two months ago, Ahmed Abu Hashish, an 18-year-old son of a farmer, disappeared in the northern Gaza Strip. His family guessed that he had been killed in the Israeli "buffer zone" carved out of Palestinian land. But it was dangerous to search for him.
The presence of a "murder of crows" in the brush (the tender spirits of ISM are also literary) gave the family a focus, and on June 14, a group of international volunteers went out with the family to search for the body, with Israeli soldiers harassing them the entire time with gunfire. Writes "Orange Jenny" of ISM:
As we rushed to take Ahmed’s body away, the shooting only intensified. We were all heading away from the fence. We’d told the soldiers over the megaphone, that we’d found the body and that we were going. Ahmed’s father hurriedly and in anguish attempted to catch up with the bearers of his son’s corpse, wailing and lamenting his loss as he did so. Still the bullets whistled past our heads, or into the ground behind us.
It struck me, when we finally got out of range of the soldiers’ guns, that our presence in that area that day must not have come as any surprise to them. It was most likely them who had shot Ahmed in cold blood some 54 days previously. They would have known where his body lay. The Israeli military never informed anyone of this. They did not pass on news of Ahmed’s murder to his family. Instead, they waited for almost two months, knowing that at some point and despite the danger, a search party might come looking for the corpse.
Was it necessary to shoot at a group of civilians on a humanitarian mission? Was it necessary to continue shooting at us as they left? Was it necessary for their bullets to force a grieving father to face his own mortality at the very moment he was compelled to recognise that of his son?
Fun and game for these creatures. This was a true tale during the recent massacre. A family was fleeing their home and among them was a 2 year old girl. She fell down badly injured but no one could get her the fire was so heavy. For 2 or 3 days, every time one or two members attempted to get her little body. Every time someone ventured out to get her they were driven back by gunfire. If memory serves me correctly two males were injured in the attempt. Meanwhile, these find soldiers turned their dogs free to a meal . By the time they finally left, little was left of the child's corpse. It was just a game to them. I believe that they consider such shootings as this young man was not much more than a "sport shoot".

As "Upper West Side" progressives, de Winter laments, American Jews are distancing themselves from being identified with the dehumanized thuggery in Palestine. No wonder. De Winter recommends Russia as the new ally since they're always looking to put a thumb in the eye of Americans when it comes to foreign relations. I'm happy to let Russia take over the "special relationship" with Israel, especially if it means America repatriates its $3 billion a year of tax dollars out of the clutches of the IDF. No one here has referred to Jews as a stain on humanity. The reference was being made to the fascists whether directly or indirectly as in the case of IDF soldiers. The IDF soldiers are defending the imported fascist Zionist base. They live on someone else's land and that's why they have to fight for survival. They need to rethink their position. To keep insisting that the video may be a fake when numerous border police have admitted that such activities are a common occurrence and that the video has been on You Tube for over a year n Israel on a site that mainly elicited approval and amusement at the abuse, and racist comments about Arabs, indicates that you are having trouble with a cognitive dissonance. You have convinced yourself that hatred is merely a Palestinian failing and that Israeli society does not have a problem with its own racism and bigotry and yet if you would read Israeli human rights sources you would find that the kind of behavior exhibited in the video by the border police is just the tip of the iceberg. And you would find, if you checked out Israeli sources such as Breaking the Silence , Yesh Gvul, Machsom Watch, B'Tselem, ICAHD, New Profile, Taayush and others, that this kind of abuse of Palestinians is also endemic to the IDF and to those violent settlers who attack Palestinians. You would also know that as a whole Israeli society has a major problem with anti-Arab racism, just as Southern white US society during the Jim Crow era had a major problem with anti-black racism. Israel's problem is not due to some genetic defect in Jews anymore that the Old South's problem was due to some genetic defect in whites. The difference, Thom, is that this kind of behaviour is tolerated and enabled by the Israeli government, which is representative and therefore can't be separated from the Israeli public at large. It's reasonable to assume that if this routine abuse of Palestinians were not acceptable to the public, they would force the government to stop it. This has not happened.

There was a fight for survival in 1920 and 29 when "Jewish" land was bought and paid for, and it was fought by the Arabs mainly against the indigenous Jewish community. You don't get to decide who is and is not a fascist, especially with Hamas. And the "Arab base" was imported by Jihad in the early Middle Ages.

I think there is a strong possibility that the Israelis shot the dead man, but it is also possible he was murdered by another Palestinian and dumped in an area where the soldiers would be blamed. He also said (minus racial slur) that Palestinians killed in "work accidents" when the bombs they or other Palestinians are working on blow up prematurely are blamed on Israel. I have seen casualty figures for the various intifadas that were released by the Palestinians and their allies to compare Israelis killed to Palestinians killed. The Palestinians killed included work accidents.

The so-called Palestineans cannot pronounce the sound P as in Papa. They tend to pronounce it B as in Baby. P doesn't exist in Arabic. They themselves may introduce themselves as Balestineans. A "nation" that can't pronounce it's own name – now that is a first.
