Medea Benjamin of the antiwar group Code Pink, shown above visiting a school in Gaza last month, is organizing a large march inside Gaza at the end of the year to protest Israel’s blockade of the territory. Code Pink is holding an organizing meeting for the march on Thursday night in Washington. Benjamin writes:
CODEPINK is joining with Alice Walker, Gore Vidal, Howard Zinn, Norman Finkelstein and thousands upon thousands of Gazans to stage a huge march from Gaza to the Israeli border the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Hear all about it at an informational meeting at 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at Busboys & Poets, 5th & K streets, NW, DC. (Just look for the CODEPINK sign!)

This will be a very short civil rights march considering the tiny size of Gaza; still, that will only help make the point of how many Palestinians have been relegated there since 1948– like doing a ML King march inside the Warsaw Ghetto. Hurrah!
I wasn’t going to put it that way, but yes, with Hamas’ recent demand that women dress according to Sharia conditions, visitors would be wise to heed their hosts’ ummm cultural preferences.

Medea Benjamin is sitting right there without a headscarf and I don’t see any sign of fear on her face. Grow up and stop making a fool of yourself.
You don’t worry about fugly betties with headscarves, eitan. You just keep on justifying the starvation of the population in Gaza so that freedom and beauty can prevail at the end.
