Mr. Netanyahu, how many American Jews are ‘self-hating’?

Any doubt that Israel under Netanyahu is off the rails? From Haaretz:

Netanyahu appears to be suffering from confusion and
paranoia. He is convinced that the media are after him, that his aides
are leaking information against him and that the American
administration wants him out of office. Two months after his visit to
Washington, he is still finding it difficult to communication normally
with the White House. To appreciate the depth of his paranoia, it is
enough to hear how he refers to Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod, Obama's
senior aides: as "self-hating Jews."

Appreciated. Thanks to Hazel Kahan.

Yeah, he's off his rails but so are the lunatics that voted for him.

  2. Jake in Jerusalem says:

You keep on quoting HaAretz. This is a far-left newspaper that recently fired their last journalist who dared breath something not radically left wing. They only print anti-Netanyahu commentary. But we know why Phil MondoLies brings up this article. It is becaues Phil is himself a self-hating Jew. Why are we not surprised?

  3. contrarian says:

Hmmm…so you just flippantly branded Phil a "self-hating Jew"….after telling us that it's ludicrous to believe that Netanyahu might have used the same term to refer to Emanuel and Axelrod??

  4. Craig11 says:

"Self-hating Jew" is such a delightful concept. Its whole purpose is to enable a hermetically-sealed universe of discourse within which even criticism of Israel by Jews can be dismissed out of hand before it has even been heard. One thing I have to say, though, is that it's interesting how critics of Israel have had to change their view of Rahm Emanuel. When his name first came up as a strong candidate for becoming Obama's chief of staff, the general attitude around here was "Oh, no, a Jew who has been in the Israeli military, and his father was in Irgun — this shows that Obama will be just as mindlessly pro-Israel as Bush!" It doesn't seem that way anymore, does it? It seems that Jeffrey Goldberg called this one right: http://jeffreygoldberg.theatlantic.com/archives/2...

I wonder if next we'll get a 'long' piece in the JPost that the US has been trying to interfer with Israeli politics, just like we're supposedly doing in Iran — god that would be funny to see! So what's the real angle? The knives are out and some Israeli political faction, including the US wants Livini in? If so, for what purpose — she's certainly not as bad as Netanyahu, but is she going to be any different when it comes to the Settlers, and Iran? Anyways, it hasn't escaped my attention that this kind of chaos in the Knesset is certainly going to work out in Israel's favor — allowing it to drag its heals a little longer when it comes to organizing *cough* peace negotiations, and stopping any settlement construction! … and Olmert — shocked — ha good one.

  6. Jaqueline_Hyde says:

"self-hating Jew" is a non-disprovable smear. It doesn't even rise to the level of an opinion.

  7. Sand says:

IMO it's too early to tell. Even with all the posturing going on — the status quo still remains.

  8. Ed says:

Axelrod and Emanuel aren’t “self-hating Jews.” They’re Machiavellian Jewish ideologues, as were the Jewish Bolsheviks — and as is Netanyahu himself. If Emanuel had stayed in Israel after he served there in Gulf War I, he’d probably be PM by now and behaving not much differently than Netanyahu, just like Obama isn’t behaving much differently than Bush. Nearly all of these power-hungry Zionist "types" quickly become psychopaths in the cut-throat, cesspool Zionist cultures that promote them to the top. They’re all basically the same animal.

  9. Craig11 says:

True, nothing on the ground has changed in Palestine. But Obama's hardly been in office six months, and Netanyahu even less than that. Only the kind of job God did on Sodom and Gomorrah would have produced real change so quickly. I think the signs are good that the Obama administration, and Rahm Emanuel in particular, really want meaningful change. The next question is whether they'll be able to get it, which isn't entirely up to them and will in any case take time.

  10. Paul says:

Soundz like your paranoid with your desperate posts.

  11. American says:

I was against Rham being in that position also.. it's a natural reaction based on what we have seen from Jews in political office or positions…most of them are in fact Israel firsters. However, even though I am sure Rham is dedicated to Israel, it seems Obama is managing to use him to good effect and perhaps Rham has seen light……. and I imagine the last thing Rham or any of the zionist want to see is a real confrontation between the US and Israel. I think Obama is serious about the settlements and can't afford to back down…going too slow for most observers ,but my guess is if Israel doesn't cave, the punishment from the US will come slowly and in incremental steps. A slow esculation of pressure fits with Obama's temperment and tactics.

  12. tommy says:

Bibi is the democratically elected political leader of Israel. He has no authority, political or religious, to determine which Jews are self-hating. It is more appropriate to consider Bibi a bad Jew for calling some Jews self-hating, and for the inhumane and nationalist policies he represents.

  13. anonn says:

What do you mean "we" you zionist tool. BTW, you better tell your zionist handlers you aren't up to the job if you care that Zionism continue its agenda. We love you on this blog. You consistently reveal the values we Americans abhor. Thanks for all your juvenile and racist mental farts. Keep it up! Antisemite: Noun. One who protests Israeli and AIPAC's Zionist agenda activities. One who believes in equal treatment and opportunity under the law. One who questions political Judaism. Any principled humanist. Any American patriot.

  14. comment says:

I tend to agree with you. Their track record makes this obvious. Is Chaney a "self-hating humanist, Christian? American"? Ditto Bush, Rove.

  15. Joe in Kansas City says:

Yeah. It's not the Middle Ages nor 1938 Europe. Jake in Jerusalem is sure grasping for straws. That's what happens if you enter a zone the MSM blanket propaganda does not quite suffocate.

  16. Fred says:

Could it be there Americans 1st and Jews 2nd, right wing Israelis think being Jewish trumps all else

  17. Richard Witty says:

It is odd to call Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod self-hating Jews, even relative to Israel. I haven't seen a citation of that quote, just the haaretz editorial reference. Phil, You and others did call them PEP's, repeatedly. I hope this indicates that you've relented on that character assassination.

  18. Witty's Goy Mentor says:

As usual, Witty sports no logic. Saying something is odd is juvenile. Odd in reference to what criteria? One looks at conduct patterns. Witty calls this "character assassination." In the deed lies the creed.

  19. Shafiq says:

Oh no. They're still PEP's – the only difference between them and Bibi are the differences between various shades of grey. Under Bush, the darker shade was more fashionable. Under Obama, you can't get away with that so you have to turn a bit lighter.

  20. andrew r says:

Self-hating Jew is an epiteph all Jewish opponents of Israel should aspire to. Although I'd rather just get called anti-semitic and be done with it.

  21. American says:

Yes, that is possible. I have come across examples of Jews, even ones who had to flee Hiter, that ended up in US positons and were totally dedicated and loyal to the US. Amb John Dean Gunther, a german jew who served in Lebanon and other countries is one. Interesting is that in my research of backgrounds of the zio neos the most rabid ones are from Poland.

  22. Colin_Murray says:

… Jews in political office or positions…most of them are in fact Israel firsters. This certainly seems to be the case. However, it is worthwhile to consider that Jews in politics undergo at least as stringent 'vetting' and monitoring by the Lobby for fealty as gentiles. I don't think the distribution of opinion among Jewish politician even remotely approximates that of American Jews in general. the punishment from the US will come slowly and in incremental steps. I agree. He hasn't made a single decision that actually threatens the security of Israel, as opposed to the colonies, that they could use to rally support to publicly attack him.

  23. Shingo says:

Maybe it you that is the self hating Jew Jake? After all, Jews are renowned for their individualitya nd uniqueness. Phillip is celebrating his individuality and excercising the expression of his own ideas, where you have clearly surrended that gift and are subscribing to propaghanda.
