Former US Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is being held in an Israeli prison, along with 18 other international activists, for trying to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza. She called into a radio station today to give an update:
Ha'aretz is reporting that Richard Falk, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, has called the activists detention "unlawful," and reiterated that the siege of Gaza constitutes a "continuing crime against humanity". The Free Gaza Movement is having trouble with their website, but you can also follow their case over twitter – http://twitter.com/freegazaorg.
Meanwhile, life in Gaza goes on. Today Israel admitted to killing Hiam Abu A'yesh, a 17-year old Palestinian girl who lived in Gaza's Juhor Ad-Dik neighborhood. Israel shelled her family's home, killing her and also injuring her brother and 10 others. Israel originally tried to blame Palestinian militants for the destroying the home, but has since changed their assessment.

Wow, her one allowed phone call was to a radio station…
The Mainstream Media can and will avoid this story as they always do when Congresswoman McKinney speaks out on the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. They simply portray her as a kook and ignore the larger story.
Edward Teller, in his Memoirs<ib> relays his grandfather's explanation of "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" as establishing limits on vengeance which, to me, seem to be explicated in the civil and criminal law of the US. Israel has regard for some laws – as others have said here, it is understood that the detention of these notables is temporary. What is not considered is the difference between how law is executed for those favored and those not. Could that difference be a clue to the difference in values? Despite the industrialization of the prison industry, a problem in itself, a majority of the people in the US never have been arrested, unless engaged in activities clearly defined as injurious to society at large – not, please note, society as defined by ethnological or theological characteristics. Class is involved in the execution of justice in the US; the poor more often suffer the indignities of severe sanction, and the definition of a crime clearly is influenced by who profits from the crime. Yet that such problems continue seems less a reason to throw out the judgment of society as articulated in law, but rather a reason to continue to perfect those judgments – an unending task, but one which has brought great gains to all those who live within such a society – IMHO.
Bahrain citizens ( five of them) are separated from rest of the activists and held in much harsher conditions. Do you think this is because they are Arabs? I cannot think of any other reason why they are given different treatment.
Is there any difference between Israel and Burma, between Israel and Stalinist Russia? Between Israel and any current totalitarian regime? In Israel, only the übermensch have rights.
Five of the boat people from Bahrain are jailed separately. The Irish noble laureate said the rest of them are very worried about their treatment because Bahrain does not have diplomatic relations with Israel so nobody from their nation's government has been to see them. http://palestinevideo.blogspot.com/2009/07/hijack... Another video clip tells us that an Israeli official told them "there is no UN." McKinney says she had crayons for the kids. She also spoke about the plight of various African women in Israel. The Free Gaza head said the purpose of the boat was to show to the world that Israel was collectively punishing a whole people under the pretext of self-defense/security. And that the US government particularly was ignoring obvious international human rights law. world that
She is a kook. The story is small.
Much better people than Said and his suffering grandpap explained the biblical law before the elder was born. And no one realitically gives a shit about Said or his grandpap. Palestinian illegal acts of war are not subject to any limits, so buzz off.
Any difference between you and a retard? The answer is no.
Then it is true, the boaters could give a shit about humanitarian aid,
Can't crayon within the lines, can you?
I don't use a crayon. Your handler only allows you crayons?
More dishonest reporting from MondoLies. The IDF denied any involvement in the death of the 17 year old. On further investigation, it appears that the IDF might indeed have fired in that area. The investigation now focuses on whether it might have been an Israeli shell. Most likely, though, it was a Hamas rocket that killed the Palestinean girl in Gaza. Note that this is the opposite of the usual sequence in which the IDF expressed regret for every death and only on the completion of the investigation, several days later, the IDF denies any possible involvement. By then, it is too late for the headlines to change. So this time, the IDF made a quick check, denied involvement, and then pursues further investigation to see if it is possible nonetheless. Incidentally, Hamas Palestinean terrorist bombs kill Palestineans – both terrorists and innocent Palestineans – all the time. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwOL4rB-go
MondoLies, like any other Orthodoxy, chokes on it's own shit — when you are solely dedicated to smearing Israel – as opposed to promoting peaceful co-existence – you: –hypercriticize Israel –ignore all the good (& there's unlimited amounts) in Israel and the people of Israel– –whitewash all Palestinian & Islamist atrocities in order to promote your agenda So let all those interested in peaceful co-existense & reasoned discussion, agreements and disagreements go elsewhere MondoLies should continue descending into it's death spiral of anti-Semites, rabid anti-Zionists and other crackpots… Good bye, sweet freaks….
Yeah, collective punishment of a people is always a small story.
you just reach behind and wipe what you find on the wall in your one color: brown–finger painter
Actually the usual sequence is the reverse, some IDF person pleads denial and innocence is always first. Why would anyone trust an IDF official anyway as to a complaint lodged against IDF activity?
Actually you painted a nice picture of the US MSM: Smear the Pals Praise Israel Ignore all the good Pals and the facts on the ground Whitewash all Israeli crimes in order to promote its agenda
Caitlin is right. There are a lot of good israelis. The cemeteries are full of them.
There is no need to smear the Palestinians. They do a great Job on their own. Never have so few people produced so much bullshit.
a third of the comments are ismails. can you ban him ,he is stupid and boring.
Typical Nazi. Ban the opposition.
Sorry annie, but i'll have to object to the way you described ismail. He's certainly not boring!
compare the media response in these two situations. iran hijacking british boat in international waters israel hijacking boat in international waters
Not only must we do everything we can to help Gazans ([Mazin Qumsiyeh] Action Needed Now), but we must also demand that the Treasury Department officially designate the IDF a terrorist organization so that the US government will be forced by US law to purge and arrest Zionists. Turnabout is fair play. The enactment of these laws was for the most part the result of Zionist manipulation, and no group more deserves to be in jail than the Jewish power elite.
Obama kept all the jews in government very disproportionately responsible for the events leading up the bailout, and the bailout of their fellow traveling banks at the expense of little folks. Between this lock and the MSM lock on even pointing it out, I see nothing but zionists leading the USA to destruction.
Joe, you're in the "Israel is responsible for 9/11" category. You are safely ignored.
mondolies bashes israel much more than MSM bashes palis mondolies whitewashes pali atrocities much more than MSM criticizes Israel so you're wrong, anti-Hasbara on both counts…
