Above is a clip from the powerful documentary Bil’in Habibti. The film provides a firsthand account of the protests in Bil’in, and shares a intimate view of the Palestinian and Israeli activists who struggle against the wall on a daily basis. It’s really one of the best films I’ve seen on the issue in recent years.
Adalah-NY will be having a screening of Bil’in Habibti this upcoming Wednesday in New York City. In addition to seeing the film, you can learn more about the situation in the West Bank and what you can do to help Mohammad Khatib and the other brave protesters in Bil’in from where ever you are.

RE: Bil’in

*The iron resistance of one Palestinian hamlet to Israel’s ‘ring of steel’ has caught the imagination of the world’s media*
(EXCERPT) After four days of curfew, the village of Nilin is not a pretty sight. Torched cars lie strewn on the sides of the road, bedroom windows sport gaping bullet holes, and debris is scattered the length and breadth of the town: evidence of the brutality meted out indiscriminately by the army against the locals.
As I followed the trail of destruction, the tales of woe grew ever darker and ever more indicting of the Israel Defence Force’s cruelty. “Look what they did to me!” screamed an elderly grandmother, hoisting up her robes to display the raw wounds inflicted by soldiers who had thrown her against a stone wall during a raid. She began sobbing as she recounted the events of earlier in the week, utterly bewildered as to how she had come to be mistreated so.
Upstairs, her middle-aged son clutched his two children to his side as he recounted the night the troops burst into his home…

Thank you very much for highlighting this.
those numbers seem to be way off. I thought it was 11 Israeli’s dead and over 3000 Palestinians dead.
Did anyone see Christine Amnanapours special the other night. Actually damn well done and relatively fair. Now I hope she goes into some of the settlements and some of the fancy housing sections of Israel that American taxpayers help pay for
Christine Amanapours special…worth the watch

Just an update:
Word from the ISM is that Mohammed Khatib has been released on the condition that he report every friday to the security forces to ensure he does not participate in the protests. Adeeb Abu Rahme, another organizer, is still in detention, where he has been since July 10th. To date more than 20 villagers from Bil’in, most under the age of 18, have been arrested in the past two months.
Tonight’s screening is at Alwan for the Arts, which is located at 16 Beaver St., on the 4th Floor, in the Wall Street area of Manhattan. The screening starts at 7pm and is free. We will be collecting donations for Bil’in’s legal fees, which you can imagine are mounting.

It’s over 100 pages and goes into the repression non-violent organizers have faced for the past 9 years or so….
Hope to see you there tonight!
I think the answer has been given about what Israel does with non-violent resistance, the summary you give the link to in the Stop The Wall Campaign is crystal clear. Israel will not open its arms and stop its process only if people “resist peacefully,” they will continuously assault them. Also, the degrees of “punishment” compared to participating Israelis, international representatives, and Palestinian that non-violently resist alone is enough to see what is taking place.
