A top White House official told Jewish organizational leaders in an off-the-record phone call Wednesday that the U.S. strategy was to "quickly" bring the report — commissioned by the U.N. Human Rights Council and carried out by former South African Judge Richard Goldstone — to its "natural conclusion" within the Human Rights Council and not to allow it to go further, Jewish participants in the call told JTA.
Piece speaks of "difficulties" arising from the report.
This really is what Lincoln meant when he spoke of a "conspiracy" between the slave powers and the northern Democratic and Whig Parties and the Buchanan administration and Chief Justice Roger Taney back in 1858. He said there was an evil, slavery, that was gaining the protection of all sorts of political powers through tacit means and sometimes through deals and hugger-mugger. It’s why he helped start the Republican Party. Both our parties today are corrupted by support for extreme Israeli actions in that region that are destroying our brand across the Middle East. And when phone calls like this happen, you gotta wonder who’s got a stranglehold here.
