Per Agence France Presse: Israeli court bars Gazan family members from visiting their loved ones in Israeli jails:
Israel’s Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a government decision that bars Gaza Strip residents visiting relatives in Israeli jails, saying this is not a "basic humanitarian need."
Says my tipster: "It is a violation of the Geneva conventions to imprison residents of an occupied territory outside of said territory. Now Gazans imprisoned thus are being denied familial visitation. The Israeli Supreme Court made its decision based on its assessment of humanitarian needs, not treaty obligations. I guess the Geneva Conventions are pretty much a joke to everybody, including us."

It’s just the other side of the “humanitarian” need that allows for rip off of USA taxpayers by “Charity” organizations giving tax breaks at the expense of USA general taxpayers. If your tax exempt NGO is helping arabs, then you are murdered, but if it helps jews, you are not only saved, but all USA taxpayers support you. It’s easy, since
donations are fungible. It all depends on who is is implementing USA IRS and Treasury and Homeland Security law. They are not Arab Americans. Nor are they, in top positions,
non-Jewish Americans. It’s all there for anyone to see. Pardon me for even bringing it up.
I’d like to see someone try to make a convincing argument that the facts themselves that are out there for everyone to see are anti-Semitic.
Too bad the facts out there for anyone to see are not really out there–see the ownership of the USA MSM.
It is not just the supreme court, it actually vitiates all society in Israel, the occupation, every area becomes tainted. Education, law enforcement, growth, every institution is shaken to the point of questioning its legitimacy because it exists on the foundation of bodies and blood not only from the past but continuously. Not that this is not the legacy of all settler states, but we are talking about Israel – and it is not as far along as the other genocidal processes practiced by older settler states. What that means is that it can be stopped, so the “developed” world is going to have to ask itself, does it want to continue into the 21st century with the same death and destruction, the blood bath of the past, or advance.
Seems to me, going on a decade of the 21st Century, that there is no advancement at all. We’ve have nothing to disrupt this negative advancement at all except for Obama’s cheap rhetoric at Cairo; he’s since then licked Israel’s ass by his public (if not pubic) silence. He equated his own young sleeping innocent daughters with Israeli kin; and ignored the Palestinian children. He’s a simple grifter. Not at all what his mother fought for; nor her mother. Jeez, he’s not even for what his derelict dad thought he stood for…. Obama is a bad disease.
Ouch! For some reason, I have more faith now that he’ll do something eventually, than I did 11 months ago. Well, as long as the healthcare and cap&trade bills are passed soon.
Why? So that those fraudulent bills can make insurance and energy companies even wealthier at the expense of the American taxpayer?
The Democratic Party has slit its own throat in a way that will prove even more comprehensive than the way Republicans have been repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot.
I agree with citizen on this one in regard to Obama, he will do nothing significant either foreign or domestic. What do I think he will do in regard to, as an example of health care (because we have already discussed Israel somewhat)? The question should be why will he do what he does, and will allow both houses to further gut any health care. Their deliberations have nothing to do with the people on their respective floors, they are just trying to cut the best deal possible for the moneyed interest, not to help anyone. Why?
Why we do not follow the path of every other developed industrialized country. Central to the discussion is what financial condition the majority of the people think they are in, let me assure that these subjects are connected at the hip.
We see this giant warfare in Washington, and the subject that no one will address – a true public option for the people. Why is this? The answer goes deeper than what many may expect, beyond merely just the interests of the corporate juggernaut, to the very condition of the people in the USA. Part and parcel of the fact that we are supposed to be a subjugated people, every slave in debt peonage so that we might never gain strength to overcome our state of slavery – ripe for exploitation.
The truth of the matter is that they would rather tie your health care to corporate production, and present it as a benefit which eats your substance out and maintains your position as a cog in the corporate wheel. Effectively removing the maintenance of your health as a right and putting it in the hands of those who could not care less about you, but pay you a wage that barely gives you the ability to survive.
On top of this they build layers and layers of cost through insurance companies whose main goal is profit, and not your health. Coupled with this you have the stranglehold of industrial pharmaceuticals which charge exorbitant costs for medication outside the womb of the smothering system (30% of commercials on TV are now drug related). Added to this you have a medical profession whose goal is to become so rich, therefore so elitist, that it is cut off from everyone except the wealthy.
The medical industry lobby is so powerful that your representatives, who stopped representing you ages ago, cannot even see their way to establishing a public option single payer heath care. Besides this, nothing that is done in Washington has you as a primary target, unless it is oppressive. They can find trillions of dollars for the military industrial complex, and trillions of dollars for their darling financial oligarchs who put us in this financial mess, but when it comes to something for the people that can be equally applicable and beneficial they cannot find the will. They only do not want “big government” when it is for the benefit of the people.
So what you have is a system that besets you, one that will ensure that you are hobbled and beholden, a debt ridden pauper. They cannot produce anything else, and what is the reason? It is simple, if we have something that gives us freedom it will empower us, and if it empowers us we can begin to challenge a system which function on the blood, sweat and tears of a people – and that will never do. Therefore, nothing substantive will be given to the people, because that would be the death knell of the enslavement of the people for the prosperity of the few.
The greatest understanding and knowledge that we can attain right now is the fact that we have a system which is adversarial to the majority of the people, and that the plan is to further burden the people with unbearable debt. The debt accrued because rather than receiving the pay which was commensurate with the work, we received very little (actual wages stopped growth in the 1970′s), and than this wonderful system lent us the money which was really the peoples at exorbitant interest rates further burdening us. Than they kept playing the consumer siren song which had the effect of burying us in a mountain of debt.
The misery that we see today is the sustained exploitation and attack on the people, to the benefit of the few. The gap between the rich and the poor is now larger than it was during the robber baron days, these are the wages of unfettered capitalism, you starve as the few close their gated communities off from the collective misery. They cannot even give you an adequate public health care, it is just another part of what needs to be stopped by any means necessary by the people. The hour is late and if we do not heed this wake up call, we might as well jump into a collective unmarked grave.
IT WOULD BE TERRIBLE TO LOSE A JOB LIKE THIS
Yeah; Shrub once referred to rich white Americans as “his base.”
Yeah. I remember that. I also remember his description of a Republican event as a convention of the “haves and the have-mores.”
Obama looks at rich white American jews (and of course all blacks) as his base, meaning his dollar base to retain his pleasure at the WH. RE is of course the congressional arm of this. I lived in Chicago for 30 years. Nothing changes.
Obama shouldn’t feel so secure about blacks as his base. He didn’t have overwhelming support from the community in the beginning, got that “not black enough” look, and now it’s obvious he’ll throw them under the bus as soon as blink. I repeat, a lot of people really respect Rev Wright.
This is what is usually tagged a populist message. It happens to be true. It’s the same old scenario; this time in black face. It harbors ill for future generations
around the world. Obama, despite his ability to talk, is really no different than Shrub. We have not had an authentic USA president in half a century other than JFK and Carter. JFK was killed as a result, and Carter was kicked to the curb. Try on the pirate hat that spells out ZOG; consider it might not be a Halloween costume.
You can be sure as Obama sat in Wright’s pew for two decades, he contemplated how far Wright’s message would fly. He learned from his mom and pa what didn’t work to assure his own material success. Obama’s all for himself uber alles. Why, some might say he’s very American, except that
some might say he’s just like Goering (sans the heroic military record).
Never looked at Obama’s strategy that way. Kind of makes sense why Obama gets along so well with Lieberman and Emmanuel then, considering.
Potsherd, he kicked them to the curb during his campaign and inauguration, look at one of the people in charge, Jesse Jr. On the Hughley show the host brought out that young black men get worse breaks than animals, listen to what Jr. says (go about 3:30 minutes into the interview and listen) –
PULL YOUR PANTS UP”
Hughley brings up young black males being shot in the streets like dogs by police, what does Jr. say –
1). “I don’t have the answer to that…;”
2). “Pull up their pants…”
3). “Treat each other with respect.”
Because you see, the message is that young black males bring the systemic sledgehammer down on themselves, it is their own fault. Now this is one of the executive campaigners for Obama, it is simply amazing. Obama cares about black people like George Bush did during Katrina.
Obama kicked a lot of his campaign staff to the curb as soon as the votes were counted, replaced them in his presidential staff, in the good jobs, with Republicans and Wall Street hacks. Matt Taibbi’s article in Rolling Stone makes this point. link to rollingstone.com
You don’t see Jesse Jr in the Chief of Staff job, it’s Rahm.
And don’t forget that while J Jr was working for O, J Sr, the original, was wanting to cut his nuts off.
Well, you’ve all just pointed out how wrong I am.
“You can be sure as Obama sat in Wright’s pew for two decades, he contemplated how far Wright’s message would fly”
I’m pretty sure that’s right. It’s inconceivable that Obama didn’t know Wright was a lefty (no pun intended), intensely critical of American foreign policy, Israel, and many other things. Wright said some dumb things too, but his real sin was his leftwing stance. Once Obama had advanced to the level of a serious Presidential candidate it was time to throw his old friend under the bus. And he didn’t just denounce Wright’s more incendiary and stupid comments about AIDS–he denounced the whole package of criticisms Wright had made of US policies.
“Wright’s more incendiary and stupid comments about AIDS”
To clarify, even Wright’s stupid AIDS conspiracy theory is understandable given the medical experiments that really have been done on black men without their knowledge or consent. So though I think the AIDS as a deliberate plot is nutty, it’s an understandable kind of nutty.

israel is the joke … it’s a sick joke and it’s on all of us
obama is becoming a joke, a sad joke
Used to be, the Israeli SC would sometimes uphold human rights, here and there, now and then.

Does this have to do with Gilad Shalit?
I wonder how the Shalit Family feels about the israeli supreme court’s take on this.
