So, to summarize Witty’s position: Jews have carte blanche to live wherever they choose, especially if they can fabricate a mythology about it. Everyone else just has to live with Jewish exceptionalism.

The analysis of “settler states” is both relevant and a fantasy.

There is NO PEOPLE that were always there, and all establishment of civil order occurs with accompanying conflict, usually violent. The Palestinians were NOT always there. The island peoples could be said to be “always there” as the Australian aborigines did survive an interglacial, as did sub-Saharan Africans, but both communities consisted of tribes that were in conflict with other tribes, and were “settler states” in their own right.

Islam on a global scale is materially an imposed norm, an imposed polity.

The reasoning relative to “settler-states” is a very conservative reasoning, that only the tradition pre-existing norm remains the norm.

It is in OPPOSITION to anarchism. If the traditional is repressive or harmful to the land, it is in opposition to any reform.

Its an incomplete reference for political identity, and political aspiration to be progressive in a humane sense.

Its because I am sympathetic to the urge to improve Palestinian condition, and utterly unsympathetic to the largely punitive approach of BDS and particularly the single-state approach or any offering full right of return to Israel of all Palestinians that claim that any of their antecedents lived in Palestine.

Its an INJUSTICE in the present to insist on that very vague and opportunistic approach.

And, I am sympathetic to the description of Zionists that the currently and historically require and thrive by a haven, a national home. And, I am sympathetic to the description of Zionists that there is an historical unbroken stream of rejection of Jews in Israel/Palestine that predates the establishment of the state, predates 1948, expressed violently and ruthlessly.
