The alliance has frayed a bit around the edges in past years. As is its wont with respect also to the other Arab citizens of Israel, state policy is not only discriminatory, but predatory. In recent years, inter alia, the GOI has tendered openly plans to confiscate thousands of dunams of land from the Druze villages Isyfia and Daliyat El-Karmel in the Carmel Mountain. May also be of interest to recall recent clashes between police forces and the Druze of Buqei’a in the Galilee in October 2007, somewhat hysterically painted by some media national commentators as a Druze Intifada. As for Druze refusing to serve, this may jog a few further memories. link to jkcook.net

Here’s a thought, are the Druze like the now largely foreclosed American inner city mortgage applicant who basically was given a bait and switch under the Old 19th Century USA sales pitch of “three acres and a donkey” for everyone?

Are the Druze like the Japanese American GIs who had to fight doubly hard against
the Axis powers to prove they were Americans?

Why would any American jew want to go to Israel since they can just bank on total
benefits under direct American rule sans any cost to them at all?

Just what are the practical incentives for American jews to become Israeli settlers?

In other words, what are the American masses paying for, and shouldn’t they know it?

Americans cannot react effectively if they do not know this information.
Where are the courageous American journalists of old (say in the 1930s)
in dumping the facts of our foreign policy impact on the rest of the world into the average American couch?

The Druze, too, were suckered. They kept their homes, but at the cost of becoming 2nd class citizens in their own homeland. Druze and Bedouin are subject to gross discrimination in Isreal, despite the fact that they represent a growing proportion of the IDF’s personnel.

If the Druze went on strike, the IDF would be in big trouble.

The Druze leadership was coopted early on by the Israeli establishment, and today, the effects of that cooptation can be seen in many young Druze’s desperate attempt to seem more patriotic than the average Jewish kid in the army. So they abuse the Palestinians much in the same way an abused child grows up to become an abusive husband (or wife). A classic case of Eved Ki Yimloch (The slave was bequeathed the throne).

As for the wall, well it’s the old song and dance. I mean, it was put there for security purposes, don’tya know?
