What you have added to the discussion is that there is in the US a society-of-successful-Jews in academia, politics, MSM, finance, etc., who support each other (and preferentially support Jews seeking admission to these professions, thereby creating a “glass ceiling” which tends to exclude non-Jews) (hereafter, the “Glass-Ceiling-Jews”). Excellent point.

I’d add a supposition, and ask for discussion, that a person’s continued membership within Glass-Ceiling-Jews requires that she not express anti-Zionist ideas publicly. This would mean that there exists within the US power structure, if not within the oligarchy itself, then within the swirl of powerful attendants and servants of the oligarchy, a large and powerful clique, Glass-Ceiling-Jews, whose members are not permitted publicly to join all the non-powerful, quotidian US Jews who oppose Iraq war and who may also oppose settlements, for example.

Thus, presumably, an Irisher VP of a big bank might be allowed to express any and every sort of opinion vis-a-vis Irish questions, but a Jewish VP of a big bank must “toe the hasbara line” or risk being ejected into outer darkness. Most seriously, it means that Glass-Ceiling-Jews in MSM are in effect required to avoid expressing news (fact) or opinion or interpretation which might be taken as anti-Zionist. this could explain how very bad NPR has been.

Another thing, completely off topic – Phil, dig up vid (vids?) of Jon Stewart debating William Kristol.

I could spot a palpable behind the scenes combat going on, something that flew right over the head of 99% of the viewership of the show. They could sense it, but they did not know what it was.

What it was was twofold – it was a fight for the soul of America. Jews, in the ascendant, were fighting over the soul of America and the direction of it.

Kristol was grinning ear to ear and laughing, saying with his eyes and his double entendres “Why are you doing what you are doing? Look at these schleps, these goyim, they are not worth it – just use them, wring them out for yours and mine benefit and be done with them”.

While Jon represented that other side of Jews – “We might be perhaps smarter and perhaps more fortunate than most in America now, our peer support network is tremendous, but we should use that to not just enrich ourselves and our tribe, but help all others here – and in the world around us – also”.

That is what I saw.

My point is, belonging to a group perceived as smart may sometimes (especially if you’re not particularly talented) discourage the pursuit of accomplishments of your own. My experience is that the blindest supporters of Israel (and I mean those who peddle the hasbara and believe it) are Jewish people who don’t have much to show in the way of personal achievement.

Yeah, and if you live in New York, right in midtown or on the park or select downtown streets, you’re king of the box, and everybody else is some poor schnook who hasn’t figured it out yet, especially anyone west of the Hudson…who are they; they dont count. And anyone coming in from Europe is Eurotrash, coming to get some culchah from New Yorkers — can you believe the fucking arrogance, in my tribe it was rife — unless he or she is a real friend or a relative.
