I say often that it would be better for all of us if American Jews started saying openly how they feel about a religious-political movement that has called on us, Zionism. Here is Dana Milbank in the Washington Post showing that he is a Zionist, when he smears Code Pink as one of the omnipresent and annihilationist "foes" of the Jewish state.
Those attending the conference got a reminder of that when they walked into the gathering. Across the street were demonstrators carrying vile messages on signs: "God Hates Jews." "You Will Eat Your Babies." Others carried an Israeli flag defaced with a swastika. The liberal Code Pink group marched around the building hollering about "apartheid" and carrying a banner saying "Stop Israel War Crimes."
This is a disgusting attempt by a Zionist in the media to make Code Pink out as anti-semites by association. My sense is that some members of Code Pink are actually for the two-state solution and the preservation of the Jewish state; but they understand, as Milbank refuses to disclose to his readers, that Israel maintains conditions throughout Palestine and Israel that American Jews put their lives down to protest when they existed in our own country. That is the central contradiction today involving Zionist values; and so all Jews are called upon to get past that chapter.
