When your job is Israel lobbyist, you have to be more Catholic than the Pope

Jeffrey Goldberg plays deep tactics: applauds Hillary for forcing realism on Netanyahu so he can stay in power and keep America putting the screws to  Iran on an "existential" threat. "[M]aybe this scolding will help Bibi focus on what’s important." But even Israel’s defense minister Ehud Barak says that Iran is not an existential threat.

I’ll believe in real progress when I start seeing “the Iranian threat” framed in mockery quotes.

The theme – “Let’s not quarrel over these silly settlements, let’s concentrate on the common interest in bombing Iran” – isn’t encouraging.

Yeah, potsherd, you are right. What’s really instructive is that despite the USA’s partnership with Israel to make sure Iran never is in a position to rival Israel’s hegemony in the neighborhood, Israel obviously acted to say the oppressed Palestinians are much more of a threat than a nuclear Iran. It will be interesting to see and hear Hillary and Mr N at the AIPAC meeting in a couple of weeks. From that, everybody who comes to Modoweiss regularly will see the true blueprint for their future (and their children’s) as it is affectec by
    this subject.
