‘Washington Post’ equates flotilla with jihad

Oh god. I mean, I hope there's a god. One with a long white beard that'll take the neocons out to the karma woodshed and spank em... Piece is by Scott Wilson in today's Post, "Israel says Free Gaza Movement poses threat to the Jewish state," and the word Islamists is in the lead. God help us, or someone.

it won’t wash – the world has seen with their own eyes and all the spin in creation can’t take provide cover for israel on this one

    • I hope so.
Not sure about that for the US, though. Never underestimate the level of indoctrination of the American people by the media here, and its total lack of critical thinking. I saw something on the news here tonight about the attack, and it lasted only a couple of seconds – family members I’m visiting, who watched the program, didn’t even seem to notice it. They are generally more concerned about the economy, what they will be eating tomorrow for supper, etc.
Aid workers and humanitarian workers are not “troops”, and therefore are not worthy of praise and honor – they are troublemakers, “hippies”, supporting “terrorists”, they must have done something wrong to deserve that… This is almost the level of thinking in many places here, supported by most of the MSM.

I had a conversation with a family member about Ahmedinejad and Israel yesterday, and after giving him some of the facts I knew about the nuclear program, the false propaganda, the war-mongering, etc., and after conceding that I was probably right, he told me, “Yes, but what you have to understand is that that is how things get done ; people are irrational, there’s nothing you can do about it, you just can’t change that. They never learn, and continue to make the same mistakes.”
Even knowing what has happened, many Americans will think what they have been told to think – their subservience to authority, power, and the acceptable interpretation of events is much stronger than their curiosity and sense of justice.

      Happy Memorial Day!

Notice the completely biased online photo gallery that accompanies the article. The picture shown next to the article is actually picture 10 of the gallery. It shows “members of the Palestinian Foundation Pakistan burning U.S. and Israeli national flags during a protest in Karachi.”

Now what impression is that going to leave on an uniformed American reader?

Next, notice the 1st picture in the gallery (note that you have to click the gallery in order to view the pictures, so unless readers choose to do that, they’ll be left with the sole impression given by the protest in Karachi). It shows “protesters demonstrating outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington.” It is a closeup of a (rather attractive) girl with a few other people shown. The context of the picture gives the impression that there aren’t that many people at the protest in Washington. This is a common tactic the U.S. mainstream media use to depict anti-war/anti-imperialist/pro-Palestine movements in this country. They show close-ups that don’t give an accurate portrayal of the number of people there (I first noticed this when I compared pictures in the mainstream of the Iraq War protests in Washington to those on the internet).

Overall, Israel and its apologists are shown in a much more favorable light than the peace advocates in the photo gallery.

The person/people who put these things together are very, very good at what they do. This is carefully coordinated propaganda, done through a photo gallery. It has the same effect on the uniformed viewer as written propaganda does on the uninformed reader.

The good news is that the vast majority of reader comments are pro-Palestinian.

quit referencing the washington post as any kind of credible news source.. it isn’t… they may succeed in propagandizing some, but thinking, curious people go elsewhere..
