There are days I wake up wishing for the two state solution as the nearest exit on the highway to apocalypse, and this is one. More grim news. The Israelis have supposedly made a deal with the Americans that they would “lease” the land they now occupy in the Jordan Valley as a supposed security zone against Jordan/Palestine for years. “Dozens of years,” per Netanyahu. So the occupation will never end. Pure intransigence. From the Saudi publication Arab News, thanks to Saleema:
“The radio quoted Israeli sources as saying that Netanyahu agreed to the idea but demanded that the arrangement be for a longer period of time than the original US offer that Israel lease the border region with Jordan for seven years.
According to the report, Netanyahu said in closed talks that “seven years is not enough — an arrangement like this needs to last for dozens of years.”
